Looking good Rhys. I haven't yet had time to apply your advice, too much 'real life' getting in the way at the moment, but you're stuff is certainly an inspiration. Seeing your stuff based singly has me daydreaming of pocket sized clashes on a 2 x 2 or 3 x 3 table at company level. If you don't mind, what's your plan? Big or little table, what echelon, what rules? I can't recall the gentleman's name, but I've been inspired by his 3mm, small-board clashes using Blitzkrieg Commander w/modified bases as 1/2 companies. Jack |

Thanks very much for your kind comments all. JustJack – they are not based yet – that is just a 60mm x 60mm 2mm thick wood base for photography purposes. But I will be basing them individually probably on penny pieces (see the basing message board in the general section). This therefore means that I can as you say do a company or two 1 to 1 battles easily on 2x2 board using rules like FoW or IABSM or now Battlefield Kursk (often and annoyingly abbreviated to BFK). It also means that I can conduct higher level games with one stand representing a platoon for Spearhead – I recently purchased a copy of these rules from Caliber Books (good service) and have read through them and really like the concepts. So the answer is big and little tables as well as campaign games etc. I am also attempting to write up a first draft for an idea I have had for corps level fat play rules with a built in campaign system. Ultimately I would love to conduct campaign games with my gaming buddies for one of my the main sectors. Probably army group south or centre from the Germans perspective starting in 1943 ie the very beginning of '43 to see what if scenarios/games occur. I have also favourited the blog to which you refer – which I think is called lead doesn't bleed. Very good blog. He's the guy who initially gave me some tips about painting these wee minis. Once you get some stuff set up we can always do a play by email game as well :-) Rhys |

Rhys, Interesting regarding the scaleability, i.e., 1 base = 1 vehicle to 1 base = 1 platoon/company. I have too many rule-sets as it is (though not even a fraction of what some folks on these boards have), but I keep finding myself on the verge of ordering BG Kursk. I've looked at quite a few of the Division/Corps sets (Spearhead, Megablitz, KISS, Not Quite Mechanized, Hurrah Stalino), all of which have some great mechanisms/concepts, but don't quite seem to scratch my itch. I agree with on the Army Group South/Center; when I think about all-out, high intensity, unrestricted warfare, I think of Eastern Front '42-'43. Take care. Jack |
