From John Bear Ross's blog ( link ) :

I've managed to knock out a heavy tank for Khurasan, do some extensive reworks for Critical Mass, and a beautifully modular new vehicle for Rebel. I'm on fire!

Way cool…

JBR is like unto a digitally-gifted demigod. I'm always interested to see his new stuff.

Ravenstar's making some beauties too, and Brigade Models has an absolute flood of 15mm stuff coming this year. 2013 should be great for 15mm gamers.

darthfozzywig22 Jan 2013 4:11 p.m. PST

Pics, JBR, pics!

Moqawama22 Jan 2013 5:01 p.m. PST

Yes, we want pics!

darthfozzywig22 Jan 2013 6:14 p.m. PST

Ravenstar does 15mm? I've only seen his starships (which I have, and are great), so I've been missing out.

wminsing22 Jan 2013 7:25 p.m. PST

JBR probably can't post them until he gets permission from the folks who bought the designs…..

True. I would hate to be a pic tease.

I will seek permission to let a few things out.

Best,
JBR

Yay! *\o/*

Just so you know, all three Karkpanzers (yes, even the heavy) have been prototyped by yours truly. It was a long process, and my scheduling troubles are completely to blame. Things seem to be back on track, now, (yes, a tank pun) and I think I can go ahead and start showing you a few things.

Here's the Karkpanzer Leicht (Light), Work In Progress part 1.

Any news on the next wave of Kark is GOOD news

darthfozzywig23 Jan 2013 9:47 a.m. PST

Good starting point. :)

Ravenstar does some REALLY nice 15mm sci-fi.

Extremely interesting!

Given the size of the bore of the gun, compared to the size of the chassis, I'd think this vehicle would run out of ammo pretty darn fast. Can't have much room for those big shells.

Of course, maybe if fires handwavium that takes up no space.

John Bear Ross26 Jan 2013 11:02 a.m. PST

There's always the case for external "blow-away" ammo storage.

Or, projectiles and propellant could be store separately. I remember a David Drake story where the projectiles were loaded into the breech, and then liquid propellant flooded into the chamber, and was detonated. Always thought that was neat.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there. That barrel is a placeholder. Final bore will be skinnier, but not by much.

On the other hand, when it comes to weaponry in sci-fi minis, bigger is usually better, since bigger casts more consistently, and doesn't twist and turn like a wet noodle during shipping and transport ;)

Don't need physical ammo storage with a particle cannon…evil grin

Don't need physical ammo storage with a particle cannon…
But you do with a powergun!

Been monkeying around with the Ghost drones from Macross Frontier… in 1/72 scale, 2x 75mm, and 4x or 6x .50cal. In 1/100 with the same model, 2x 10cm powerguns and 4x or 6x 2cm powerguns. Incoming!

John Bear Ross27 Jan 2013 12:50 p.m. PST

And, here's the fourth and final iteration of the KarkPanzer Light work in progress series.

Here's the link to the post.

AWuuuu27 Jan 2013 3:35 p.m. PST

I would prefer something shorter and bulkier as an anti tank future gun.
But its nice model.

I like minigun best but ammo storage would be a real problem.
Maybe laser minigun ?

John Bear Ross27 Jan 2013 3:47 p.m. PST

Jon handles the fluff. I just arrange electrons. I'm sure it will make sense ;)

Here's some comparison shots of the MDMS version next to a Red Lightning and Cane Toad.
