Got a few more goodies to show here. I'll start with some new mechs.

A modified Madcat. The arms are from an unseen rifleman with the barrels modified just a bit. I added armor plating to the hull and the arms. Then I sculpted a pair of laser pods and attached the pods to a Front Mission backpack, which I then placed on the top. The base was supplied by Racer X, if I remember correctly. I just added the flora.

This one is a modified MW:DA Daishi. I took the lower arms from a Gundam, hands from a Front Mission wanzer, and sculpted some arm mounted lasers. I reposed the legs a bit. Then I added the cannons on either side of the cockpit- extra Heavy Gear parts. The turret on top was also an extra Heavy Gear bit, but I sculpted the extra armor panels on the top of the hull and a turret rotation ring. The ventilated armor panels on the back of the legs were also sculpted by me.

Next, A modified Owens sculpted by my friend, Orko-one. I added the machine gun on top and then added the ammo drum to it. The left arm came off a MW:DA cougar, but the gun barrel is a piece off of the clicky base used to record the heat scale. I then reposed the legs to better fit the terrain I made for her.

What would my post be without some kind of Star Wars vehicle? Well, here is something from the expanded universe called the TIE Aggressor. I am not 100% sure, but I think this was also one of the kits Anigrand was told to stop producing some time ago. I wanted to spice mine up a bit so I upgraded the cannon barrels and added power supply hoses to them. I imagine them to be light turbolasers mounted on a sturdier TIE hull.

And last, but not least….droids! Since there are no known manufacturers of 1:144 scale droids, I sculpted these little guys myself. If you have played the game Borderlands and Borderlands II, and you have seen Star Wars, then you should have no trouble identifying these.

These are awesome!! Always a treat when you post your stuff… very inspirational!

VonTed22 Jan 2013 11:04 a.m. PST

You know, you should just publish a trade magazine with your stuff in it. Maybe with some tutorials….. just the pictures of the eye candy alone would be worth it :)

You are poop hot sir!

Stunning work as always!

I like the Madcat in particular. Are the rifleman arms taken from a toy rifleman or some other source?

Make more ClapTraps!!
I'd love a few of them.

Wonder if an over sized coffee table book of this stuff would be out of the question?

Pijlie22 Jan 2013 2:46 p.m. PST

Astonishing stuff, as I have come to expect, my good sir. Inspiring as well!

Wow.

ordinarybass22 Jan 2013 6:35 p.m. PST

I'd a gree with LordNth. I bet Spiff has got enough quality terrain, and certainly enough models, to do a picture book.

Always a pleasure!
I may have missed something, but do you have a tutorial for that wear and tear effect on the edges of your Battlemechs?

Ranger0822 Jan 2013 10:34 p.m. PST

Amazing work! Love all the work you've done on the mechs and fighters. The droids are delightful! Thank you for sharing!

More and more in the past year when i go to the cons and see the MW Clickies in the FM areas that i start buying this stuff. All looks good when re-purposed. The above posts are the reason behind em. And i do make sure that the GF knows whom to blame. :-)

@ Twilight Samurai- No tutorial as of yet. I am going to work on one or two videos for my blog, which I will announce as soon as I have one done.
The simple written explanation is the edges are done after I have finished all my base colors. I take simple white paint and very lightly dry brush the edges to give them a slight highlight. This helps to define my edges as well as give the mini a slightly weathered appearance. The rust effects are just a red oxide ink mixed with a bit of water. the paint chipping effect is done with silver paint dabbed on with a sponge.

@ ordinarybass- Those rifleman arms are pieces from the old Dark Horse Robotech miniature. All I had were the arms. I have no idea where the rest of the mini went.

Thank you all for the comments. I am glad you enjoy the show!
And Grimmnar, I am more than happy to be the scapegoat. It isn't the first time…. ;o)
