I've finished painting my first half-squad of Quar:

These guys were a just-because-they're-cool purchase, not for a specific game I had in mind. Though who knows what the future might hold.

More photos and words at my phlog:

Also, apologies if I cross-posted this wrong, I honestly have no idea what genre these guys fit into!

Nicely done!

Which scale?

snodipous21 Jan 2013 9:11 p.m. PST

These are the 28mm Quar.

I keep meaning to get some for the "Just because they're cool" factor…but I can't justify adding to the pile for a while.

(Leftee)21 Jan 2013 10:20 p.m. PST

I finally justified. 'Songs of Our Ancestors' is played on a small table with a few Quar a side -I'm starting with some Partisans/Militia. Got tons of figs to paint (as do we all) but had to start as they are now in my local store so could see them in person.

RazorMind21 Jan 2013 10:27 p.m. PST

I was thinking of getting them and using them with Tomorrows War rules

snodipous21 Jan 2013 10:51 p.m. PST

Brucka – have you tried a game yet?

Lego Warrior22 Jan 2013 4:08 a.m. PST

I must admit I keep looking at the Quar – nice job

btw who's trench is that very cool

I got the Quar for skirmish games. Your figures look great.

I too would like to know who made the trench.

Outstanding!

snodipous22 Jan 2013 7:12 a.m. PST

The trench comes from Grand Manner. That's one piece of a large set I have.

ajbartman22 Jan 2013 7:19 a.m. PST

These? link

snodipous22 Jan 2013 7:37 a.m. PST

Yep, those are the ones. They are really nice.

Gorgeous quar, and very nice terrain piece to go with them!

This is currently my favorite miniature range by far, and I've built up quite a collection of the 28's over the last year and a half. I have to say, "Songs of Our Ancestors" is really a fun game for small skirmishes (based on Ganesha's Song of Blades and Heroes and Flying Lead, if you're familiar with those), although I've seen people use the quar for all kinds of games.

If by chance you'll be at Salute this year and have space, bring 'em along. A few of us are going to have a table set up for participation games, and I'll have all my minis in tow.

Now is a good time to get some "just because." We are in the middle of our January sale. Everything in the store is 15% off. Use either the code 15 or fifteen upon checkout.

Played a very few test scenarios (the broken down truck) with Andrew Binsack. Very simple rules – as above based on Song of Blades etc. The back-story and art work are probably the most compelling things about this game.

snodipous22 Jan 2013 2:31 p.m. PST

Whitwort, I'll be at Trumpeter Salute in Vancouver, BC, but I suspect that's not the one you mean…

Captain dEwell22 Jan 2013 4:05 p.m. PST

Highly amusing and very cool. Well done.
