Hi, I have received my 1/48 B-17G and a question right off the bat. The very first part suggests painting "zinc chromate". I have read the article on the IMPS site. What I really need to know is what tamiya/humbrol/etc paint should I use for this? Jon |

Testors do a water based color "Zinc Chromate Green", that will fit the bill. I don't know the product number off the top of my head but it is part of their "Acryl" range as I recall. Hope that helps. Cheers. GeorgeD. |

IIRC, early B-17s used yellow zinc chromate on the interior, but later B-17s, including the B-17G, used green zinc chromate. Scanning the Humbrol color chart, Lime is pretty close to green zinc chromate. Maybe add a little yellow. link Tamiya Yellow-Green is close. PDF link Amazon carries the Testors green zinc chromate paint. link I'd bite the bullet and order the Testors. |
