Do any of you use the larger "collectible" Battletech figures for your games of 15 mm Sci-Fi. While cleaning up the storage building out in the back yard I came across a couple of these models and thought with a bit of a repaint and re-basing these could be nice in games of Tomorrow's War.

Thoughts?

I'm using the old metal ones for 15mm sci-fi. I don't know why the collectible ones would be that different. They don't all work super well but most do.

I own a rather large selection of Battletech/Mechwarrior "clickies" and I find them more suitable to play 10mm large engagements a-la-Epic 40K.

The building sets that GF9 did work well (i got loads cheaply), and the mechs that come with them work well as lighter mechs (being around 3+ inchs tall). I've use the standard (6mm) Battletech mini's a heavy power suits/battle armour (the Cataphact is great, the the 28mm Elemental works well)

Yeah, I use them with my 15mm scifi. They work fine with them.

Thanks,

John

I use them. Think they work great as I envision Mecha being just a bit taller than tanks. Not the 4 story tall machines that they are in Battletech.

If you mean the Museum Scale ones – yes I have two Mad Cats. Best example of use in play is on the Gruntz! website gruntz.biz

Robin has one and it looks great with 15mm figures.

I originally bought some Mechwarrior (the collectible clix battletech game) minis intending to use them for 15mm. 15mm never panned out for me and now I play sci-fi in 10mm.

There are quite a few larger mechs that would work well in 15mm, especially if you think of the pilot as being in the torso rather than the head.

There are only a few vehicles that are suitable however, and virtually none of the infantry.

The reason I was looking at the clicks Battlemechs is they are a bit larger than the metal Ral Partha and look more the right size to my eye. Of course I could see the metal being fine as well. I agree some of the mechs would not look right because of the cockpit and readily agree the infantry would not work except for 10 mm games. Which is not a bad thought now that you mention it.

The regular metal Battletech mechs are aprox 6mm in scale could work as robots in 15mm, but they're too small for much else.

Interestingly, the infantry for battletech has tended to be a bit bigger scale than the mechs, so many folks went ahead and used Mechwarrior infantry (10mm) in their games of battletech since it was/is so cheap.

If you're considering 10mm with rebased clix fig, have a look here:

Ordinarybass, the link you sent does not appear to have any information. Would you check it please I would like to see what you guys did.

Thanks

Hmmm… not the museum scale, or clix, or old plastic models…. but I have been using the standard Ral Partha mechs as walkers in my 15mm sci fi games.

They work well as scout class vehicles.

Here is a Mechwarrior Clix (?) as a mining robot:

Sorry about that. Here's the link.

We've been using rebased (in some cases repainted) mechwarrior models for 10mm sci-fi games like FWC, PZ8 and Mech Attack for a few years now. We only play these games a few times a year, so it's extra nice that we can have a good looking armies without dropping much $ on figs that won't see alot of use.

And here I was, looking at some of the Battle Armor figures to use as Fleet-scale mecha/fighters…

LordNth21 Jan 2013 2:32 a.m. PST

ahh, Lion in the Stars, I have some broken ones. Now I don't have to find the right scale fighters. Never thought of that. Thanks!
