I'm no speed-painter in the best of circumstances, and lately have had a lot of work keeping me from the brushes – so my unit of 28mm thorakites from Relic Miniatures is growing more slowly than I would like. But it is growing, and I wanted to share some pictures. I've begun fleshing it out with troopers, after starting with the command element, loading them up with both spears and javelins. I've wanted to make a unit that really looks like it is prepared to act in a variety of rolls.

The blogpost, with a bunch more photos, can be seen here:

Thanks – James

Those look very nice.

Beautiful figures, nicely done, love the two tone effect on the shields and the blazon. I'm sure I've seen that blazon on figures before, either way, very good indeed. Fantastic. I will have to add your blog to my favourites, thanks for sharing with us all on TMP.

Now those are some scary looking ancients!

Great job, nice touch to make them "multi-tasked". Must check on progress with the Battle Flag transfers, some of them were just the thing and much better than my hand painting.

I might have to 'appropriate' your Seleukid shield device for my urban militia for my new Antioch project.

There's a rumor that there will be a Pontus related design transfer for these shields as well as north African. No I can't be certain yet, all depends on Battle Flag.

Mike

Richard from Battle Flag replied to my email overnight and it seems most of the Pontus designs are done and hopefully due for release very soon.

Good news as there are 48 Relic thorakitai on the painting tray! Not to mention some Aventine thureophoroi.

Cheers
