Can the perry Confederate skirmishers be used as Union troops if they are given the kepis? Thanks.

Are you referring to pack ACW28? I don't see why they couldn't be used as Federals. Some Union troops wore roundabouts/shell jackets. Some even cut the skirts off of their frock coats. I wouldn't have too many in the same unit but I say go for it. You don't even have to swap heads because slouch hats were not out of place in the Federal ranks either.

Sorry for not being more specific, I was referring to the new plastic boxset of confederate skirmishers.

Yes… sort of. As was stated SOME Union troops wore Shell jackets. As the war progressed that number (not very high even early) diminished greatly.

The caps in this box set are Kepis and not Forage caps so make sure to file the tops of the caps flat. Union regiments almost exclusively wore Forage caps or Slouch caps NOT Kepis (usually Chasseurs wore Kepis).

If cost is your main concern for using them as Union troops then you might as well use them. Although, the original box set has about half Sack coats so you'd be better off using that box since 99% of Union troops wore Sack coats.

Sure! Why not?

Union troops in the Western theatre often prefered slouch hats.
