After going through all my photos on my external hard drive I noticed quite a few photos where either Axis vehicles had some part of an Allied vehicle or weapons system on it or vice versa. The Germans did it to quite a few of course especially to the French vehicles that we have seen. Others I have seen are,
Yugoslavian Partisan M3A3 with an Pak50 75mm gun link
M3A3 with quad 20mm Flak-38V
US rocket launcher on German halftrack linkWhat others are out there? Robert |

I think there is a profusion of information and photos of the Vehicles use by the Germans. Here is a modified Churchill with a PZ III cupola used by the British. Robert

Bushmills is actually a very rare variant for another reason as well. – it has two 3" howitzers, one in the turret & one in the hull. It's the I CS version IIRC. Take a look at northirishhorse.net & say hi to Gerry Chester. |

"Just before crossing the Rhine, the US Army took a bunch of captured 251's and mounted "Screamin Mimi" rocket launchers on them. They were then driven or towed into position to launch a huge barrage – and then abandoned afterwards." Robert |

Red Army first tried to restore "original" version, but there were some 76 mm SAU based on german chassis
some photoes in this article shows that the scale of the repairs was quite noticeable.(the article is taken from Kolomyets book) link link link also found that several german tanks were listed in August operation against Japan, so you can have a scenario when a Panther is putting holes in Japanese armor ;) some pics here shows Russian armor in German service, including T-34 revamped with 85 mm gun. Several such tanks that were captured later on were loved by Russian tankers. link article and pictures of SU-76i, based on PzKpfw or Stug 3 link |

Perhaps I should have been a little more clearer. I have many of the photos with the German modified vehicles. It has been discussed here quite often. Thats not really the information I'm looking for though. What I was thinking of was the use by the Allies of parts of, or weapons systems of, the Axis being used on Allied vehicles such as evidenced by the examples I posted. Robert

Still haven't been able to find a shot of the 150mm sIG33 mounted M3. I have read it was lost in it's first action though. And about the Pak armed ones, "About the M3A3 with an Pak50 75mm gun, Bow MG was removed, ammo storage was ~25 rounds, side armor around gun was made from destroyed SdKfz-251. Total of 5 were converted and 3 were still operational in 1949" mailer.fsu.edu/~akirk/tanks Robert |
