Hi all, after getting my Fleet Intro double from GZG for Xmas I've managed to paint about half of it and play a couple of 'Lite' games with the kids. It's been good fun so far so here are a few pics:

I made some card play aids to help:

There are more, damage markers etc.
If there's enough interest I might be able to host the PDFs somewhere for download.

More images and info on the blog.

Love the painting Geoff!

WOW!

I love the freighters! And your templates are very cool. Also like how you added the ships names to their bases. How did you do that, BTW? Stuff like this reinvigorates my interest in Full Thrust. I would love PDFs of the templates.

nvdoyle10 Jan 2013 2:46 p.m. PST

Please, I'd love to have those PDFs!

Very, very good and inspiring paint jobs.

ming3110 Jan 2013 2:48 p.m. PST

Excellent job . I will be using my freighters at the GZG ECCc con in Feburary will have to post some pictures then

jpattern210 Jan 2013 3:04 p.m. PST

They're all excellent, but your work on the freighter kicks butt! Nice! (Weyland Yutani is everywhere these days.)

These are absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing!

Meiczyslaw10 Jan 2013 3:39 p.m. PST

I have to ask (though I think I know the answer):

Are the shallow black lines on the model at all?

If so, the GZG pics don't show them, and I'm more apt to buy them now.

If not, well done! (And I might still think about GZG ships now that I have an idea of what the paint needs to add to them.)

artbraune10 Jan 2013 4:21 p.m. PST

Very nice!

Isn't there a Full Thrust Yahoo Group? You could host the PDFs there. I'd love to have a copy of them!

Very nice indeed. I am also working on my GZG fleets, and I know that they will not be that good when I finish. But then I have a lot more ships to paint. :)

wminsing10 Jan 2013 5:45 p.m. PST

Dang, AMAZING job, fantastic!

Also any chance you could post your 'compass' and the rest? Those look stunning.

Like your work on these--and on your scratchbuilds from awhile back.

Toaster10 Jan 2013 8:56 p.m. PST

Love to get a download of that template, if not I'm going to copy it anyhow.

Hi all, thanks for all your kind comments.

Tom, labels on the bases are just printed onto adhesive label paper through a laser printer and cut out with a scalpel.
The adverts on the freighter were printed on a lightweight matt photopaper on an inkjet at the highest resolution possible and stuck on with PVA glue.
Meiczyslaw, I'm assuming the lines you're referring to are the panel lines which were painted very carefully by hand to break up any areas of flat colour.

Finally I've added the PDFs for all my paper/card play aids to my personal webspace for download. They are all set up on A4 sheets but I've checked that the image area fits within US letter size for all you space jockeys across the pond. I printed mine onto adhesive label paper and then stuck this to a thicker board.

I might do a step by step of the remaining ship paints on my blog if anyone is interested.

Thank again for taking the time to have a look.

Lovely work all round.

Rothgar11 Jan 2013 10:56 a.m. PST

Very inspiring work! Great job!

I'd like to see a tutorial.. I ordered an intro set for Christmas too.

Chef Lackey Rich Fezian11 Jan 2013 11:47 a.m. PST

Nice work. Your basing is interesting – I almost always see hex bases aligned so there's a hexside rather than a point to the prow, but I can see where it could make movement a bit easier. Myself, I use circular flight bases, but that's mostly because I hate trying to get my ships aligned (to side or point) straight.

Carpet General11 Jan 2013 1:28 p.m. PST

Rich, if I were using hex based movement I think it would be the wrong way round. Fortunately I don't. Rothgar, I'm taking pics and tracking my progress on my remaining ships so I can post a step-by-step tutorial.

Cheers

You are correct, sir. Thanks for the response, even though it makes my Big Britches perk up and say, "Hell, I can do that."

(Insert eyeroll here.)

Howler11 Jan 2013 9:16 p.m. PST

Nicely done.

Carpet General12 Jan 2013 4:50 a.m. PST

Meiczyslaw, the only advice I can give is to thin your paint for fine line work, it really helps. Or, if you can find the right colour and nib width, use a felt tip pen.

Meiczyslaw12 Jan 2013 8:56 a.m. PST

Or, if you can find the right colour and nib width, use a felt tip pen.

I have a selection of Microns that might work, should thinning not do the job. But I'd rather paint them on, because Micron ink tends to seep into the surrounding area. Normally, I can't see it, but it shows up clear as day in photos.

@CG I'm in that group. I'd be delighted to post these there, with whatever attribution you wish.

Also, thanks for checking the letter/A4 issue. We colonials are SO backward, don't you know? ;->=

Mr TheBeast if you'd like to download a set to put on your group I have no objections.
