I believe #1 is the fastest way. But that is misleading. Painting minis is mostly a labor of love and tales time. Base coat+ wash+ highlight will give a cohesive attractive army. Focus less on methods and formulas and try to enjoy it

My last 10-12 minis painted since this thread was OP have markedly improved (but dont expect mke to post any pics!).
