Found a copy of battleball for $1 USD at the local thrift store, missing the rules and a couple dice but seems to have all the figures.

I have no plans to play the game but I was thinking of turning one of them into a mech for my 15mm gaming.

Replace the base, enclose the "cockpit", remove the shoulderpad stickers and repaint and I think it would be a pretty good addition!

What do you think?

I paid $4 USD for mine at a Toys 'R Us closeout. Surprisingly, it's actually a quite playable little game, good for introducing young 'uns to that style of game before moving on to Bloodbowl or Dreadball.

Yeah, the gam's actually pretty cool.

It's the only board game we take when we go on vacation to the lake. Simple, easy to follow set of rules, VERY easy to insert house rules to make it better.

I can make a photocopy of the rules for you if you want, Duane.

I've got a couple of games stored away. Was considering using the figures for additional dreadball teams although the basic game is quite playable.

If you need the rules, just download them straight from the Hasbro website. They make rules and instructions available on PDF for almost all their products, including legacy games going back to the 1950s… And that covers both Milton Bradley and Parker Brothers. Look in the Customer Service section.

As for the minis, they're great, and I think that one would do well as a 'mech.

Heh, I was just eyeballing my copy for Dreadball usage…

I gave each of my sons a copy years ago. I still have mine in shrink wrap. The only parts left of their copies are some figs. I thought about Dreadball too.

Thanks,

John

Thanks for the offer, Mardaddy!

I think I will download the PDF and see how it goes before I start cutting things up.

This was the game I was trying to remember when certain folks were whining about Mantic's game 'ripping off' GW's Bloodbowl.

I got given a copy last year (still sealed), the kids and I played it and loved it. I was sorry that they never released more teams, and even started looking around for Sci-fi US Football minis to make my own, but sadly never found any. Was happy to get my Impact ice hockey figures though…

Also do a google search for the "Advanced Battleball Rules." These are a rather clever fan-generated version that add tactical choices to the game and include rules for "league" play with players gaining skills over time.
