So whoever decided that a freshly painted unit you are so proud of must immediately route off the field after it's first combat? Playing one last minnie game with my son before he leaves for two years: WFB 8th. Lizard dudes vs Norsca (me).

I had two new units – painted with loving care – they are actually historicals representing Somerleds best troops.
So of course they both routed in their first combat – rallied and routed again. Two units – four combats – four routes.

A pox on whoever wrote that rule.

Sarajevo 1996, we managed to smuggle some figures and Napoleons Battles rule with us. I had just painted some superb AB figs Austrian Cuirassiers and in their first game they were routed by French Light Cavalry, but to make matters worse they were the cardboard counters supplied with the game!!!

Tally Ho!

Korvessa this is the first time it has happened to you?
If so, welcome to the club.

Reminds me of my carefully painted Foundry Praetorians that I laboured over for hours – who, when the Celts came over the hill, earned the title "First to Flee"

I donīt want to gloat or anything (okay, maybe I do want to gloat, just a bit anyway), but I had a brand new, freshly painted battalion of Prussian dragoons break a French square Saturday evening.

But let me point out, what makes this moment remarkable is its rarity. Oh, and Prussia still lost.

Had some beautifully painted Napoleonic Pomeranian Cavalry, everytime someone sneezed at them – they would run away…

Reminds me of the one and only time I used my Front Rank Spanish Lancers. They turned and ran after failing to do any damage charging some French Infantry.

Texas Jack06 Jan 2013 3:08 p.m. PST

But boys, they may have run but they looked damn good doing it!

Security minister:

Not the first time by a long shot.
An all too frequent occurrence.

The first AWI my newly painted Continental Militia were in, they were behind a stone wall and destroyed two Hessian battalions……of course after that they were slapped around and routed, but not a bad first showing :)
