Some of these round "nailhead" things are as small as 1.5mm in diameter:

Here are some round ones that are 2mm:

These are the deeper "domed" ones:

Certainly be nice and smooth for a robot head plate

I wonder if the come just as small, but oval in shape instead of round.

How do you find all these things Dan?

Cacique Caribe04 Jan 2013 7:17 p.m. PST

LOL. Well, I was on ebay looking for actual nailheads for leather furniture and all this other stuff popped up in the results.

Having suffered acute miniature-itis for decades, all I could think of was how could these tiny ones be used for minis.

I'm going to Hobby Lobby/Michaels tomorrow and see if I can find these things.

I don't know what I'll do with them… but I'm sure something will occur to me

I use something like those as domes on tanks and such.

Nice for shield bosses on larger figures too!

Yes. You can get these things from Hobby Lobby. I bought some a little larger for helmets for 28mm minis. Haven't tried them out yet though. Glad I'm not alone in looking for/at stuff like this!

Two ideas;
Food bowls for dioramas
Domes for the sides of daleks

Cacique Caribe05 Jan 2013 2:20 p.m. PST

Hmm …

How about adding some 2 or 3 wire legs to them?

Wow. These tiny "teardrop" nailheads would make cool shields (and other things, I'm sure) for small scale figures:

Or as embellishment for alien terrain, etc.

any clear ones for Mars Attacks/Buzz Lightyear?

In the same vein I used a BB as basis for my 15mm WIP sculpt helmet.

ArmiesArmy: "Top half of a hover droid?"

I like that idea a lot. Perhaps two of them with thin styrene bits sandwiched in between?

Oooh that's an idea… if I could find the same, just a bit larger…

I was looking for something for a VERY different context (in 28 mm) : early 20th century Pulp in North Africa!
