I have just finished reading "The Maps of Antietam" by Bradley Gottfried. The book is simply outstanding due to the author's format and concise text. The left page provides the reader with a detailed text describing the battle action taking place on the map that is shown on the right page. This format prevents the reader from having to constantly flip the text page to the map page to follow the action. The maps are outstanding and with the accompanying text the reader is able to feel the ebb and flow of the battle. The book lends itself to offering gamers numerous scenarios.

_All_ the Maps of… books are GREAT. Don't be surprised to be even more surprised with the new books to come. :)

"The book lends itself to offering gamers numerous scenarios."

Except that they don't give you any numbers. I have all of the books and I like them, but it sure would have been nice to be able to tell at a glance how many men we're talking about in this unit or that.

You find out the numbers with a little researching. It ain't that bad.

Individual strengths of regiments may be found in many sources. The "Battles and Leaders" series is one example.
