I'm looking for some Persians to match up with Foundry Athenians, Thracians, and Gorgon Studios Spartans. How would the Warlord Persians and Kushites match up? From the pics, the Warlord stuff looks smaller, flatter, and more naturally proportioned. Anyone done a side-by-side comparing Ancients these days including Warlord?

Thanks

~ Ax

Warlord minis are smaller than Gorgon and Foundry. Right now, Warlord has a deal on their Kushite range. As for Persians, you might try Wargames Factory which should be comparable in size to Gorgon and Foundry. Victrix also makes some nice Greeks as well.

Warlord Persians need some assembly.

Try Foundry, Essex, Tin Soldier and Sgt Major Miniatures (previously Vendel).

Warlord had some greens last year of plastic Persians, not sure when these are on the cards. They are releasing some Caesarian Romans which seem larger than their EIR range.

The WGF Persians are large 28mm. Very good price if you buy the sprues.

Steve Saleh did a partial Persian range when at Foundry; lovely sculpts. It might be worth asking them, now they seem to have declared glasnost, whether they will cast them again. The figure bottom left is a Kardakes, the others were rathr better.

Gorgon were looking at producing a range with Steve Saleh but I believe only cast a single test figure (above centre), but it is a very nice one.

Crusader do some in their rank and file range- basic but OK.

The cavalry are likely to be a challenge to recruit…
