I am too far from a store to nip out and buy something else. So I'm wondering if anyone has tried applying regular vallejo matt varnish (the brush on kind) through an airbrush. I have golden (brand) airbrush medium to add,if that helps. Nothing else. As I said, I'm nowhere near a shop. So I either used this, or go with brushing the stuff on. I'd like to get feedback from someone who has tried this. Vallejo are very popular, so I hope someone has done this before. |

I use Vallejo matt and gloss varnish with my H&S Evolution (o,4mm). Haven't encountered any problems yet. |

Nice! Did you thin it out with anything? |

Bought a bottle a year or so back that I sprayed straight on and it worked like magic. Newer bottles have been less effective, leaving the dreaded chalky look. I usually thin with Windex now. Went back to brushing back onto figures. |

I use it without thinner. |

I've put the Vallejo matte varnish through my grex tg (0.2 needle) without thinning. In the interest of full disclosure, that bottle sat in my paint box for at least 5 years unopened until this week, so your results with newer bottles may vary. I've also managed to get watered down elmers glue through it without an issue for batches of terrain. This was all done at around 10 PSI, so it didn't take a huge amount of pressure to jam it through. |

Get the new ones; they are polyurethane just like their primers. Both are incredible through an airbrush. |

I will primer coat something and varnish it as a test. I have just finished a bunch of 15mm German Panthers (36 pcs), a soviet 10mm army (Pendraken) – lots of tanks, infantry trucks, and a 10mm German army (tanks, infantry, trucks), and twelve of Pendraken's 10mm semi destructed buildings. I don't want to trash all of them after a lot of hard work! |

I tried it and it worked better than I could have dreamed. I always had the problem that vallejo matt varnish isn't that matt. But spraying this varnish gives a DEAD MATT finish. Happy :) |
