I am painting up my Pulp Figures Gangland Justice cops.

Those armed with a Tommy Gun have a satchel on their left hip. On the Pulp Figures web-site

this appears to be brown. Does anyone know if this is correct as the rest of the leather equipment appears to be black leather?

Also, I was intending to paint the model not brandishing a firearm in the pack:

as a senior officer. Did senior officers wear insignia of a different colour to lower ranks, perhaps gold rather than silver?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Is the satchel supposed to be a spare drum pouch for the Thompson?

If you want to pick nits, Chicago police officers wore a silver six pointed star during prohibition. Street level supervisors would have also worn silver.

You're in luck -- go watch a few episodes of Boardwalk Empire. A quick look for Eli Thompson (chief of police) comes up with these:

those minis look more like NYC police.

They are New York City police, not Atlantic City police as in "Boardwalk Empire". If you have a copy of "The Godfather" check out Sterling Hayden's uniform.

I use two sets of Pulp Figures police in my 1930's Zombie Apocalypse town. The boys in blue are the "regular" police. Peace officers in yellow slickers (from the same source) are "rogue police"…guys you don't want to see. The Gangers (All Things Zombie rules) are actually the mob guys, again guys you want to avoid. I've got police tape signs up all over that warn of "the flu – their take on the source of the plague of zombies. Many, many thanks to Bob Murch for his inspiring figures.
