Why do wargamers need painters tape, and is the dollar-store variety good enough?

Well, effectively a farewell to wargaming for two years. No, I'm not off to prison but am to be posted in two weeks to Tonga where wargaming is effectively unknown. I'll not be getting back home all that much and so most of my major projects as a whole will be shelved for the duration. The flip side is that I will have some time (quite a lot of time) on my own in my own house with little to do. Hell, the rent even includes a cleaner and gardener so I am taking my modelling kit with me and will be sculpting and painting figures and building models.

So for the next year my resolution is to complete two large scale armies: British for Quebec (400+) and the rest of my Lewes medievals (500). I'll e3ven start my Crimea British. At the same time I'll be photographing, developing some fledgling art-work to do with those projects and doing as much blogging as my bandwidth will allow. The developing world is not as on-line as the rest of us and I'll be restricted to just over a Gig a month.

If any wargamers visit the island, look me up – when I know the address just send me an e-mail. I will have my ships and gladiators to offer games in the unlikely event I can get one or games in whilst there.

But NZ/Australia is just a hop-skip and a jump… plenty of wargamers there…

Enjoy your time there. I hope FEDEX delivers there so that if you run out of a crucial paint/material/need just one more figure to finish a unit you can get what you need/want/desire. Otherwise I bet the beaches there will be great.

You could put together a Tongan wargaming demo (I assume Tonga has some kind of military history), and bring it to local schools…
