Shapeways recently released some models of U.S. aircraft of the 'thirties. They include the Consolidated P-30 two-place fighter, the O-46 observation airplane, and both A-8 and A-12 Shrikes. Detail is excellent, although the A-12 has no wing struts. They should paint up nicely in blue and yellow (or OD and yellow for the A-8). They also now offer the Fw-56 trainer and the Miles M20/2 emergency fighter in 6mm. The Miles might find some use in wargaming, although the others would probably appeal most to the aircraft collector. All are in frosted ultra detail (FUD) material, so will require careful handling. |

Weren't the P-30 and the A-8 and -12 used in China in the mid-30s? Seems to me some Air Force fans put out their own airplane cards and counters on the internet for China and it included these a/c as well as several more. |

Good question! Wikipedia says that the A-12 was used by the Chinese air force but makes no mention of the A-8 and P-30 being used by anybody but the United States. There's a profile of an A-12 in Chinese colors on the Internet. |

You're right, Fred, I was thinking of the Peashooter. Robert has the A-8 in his list here TMP link but I'm not sure his sources. |
