It just occurred to me that these Star Wars Super Battle Droids would be decent proxies for Falling Skies Mechs:

There are several other sculpts out there but they aren't consistently done. This one is nice and chunky but some of the others are just too skinny. I have a few of these guys and have checked them out with my other 15mm… not a bad fit at all from what I've seen in the show. Granted the legs are wrong and they don't have the wing/targeting things. But I'm please with them as is.

I'm also getting a few of these guys from GZG:

Like the robots they are just decent proxies. I might grab some Rebel Minis zombies or civilians to be harnessed kids. Just a little green stuff should get the right effect of the harness.

I'm doing some play testing for Angel Barracks later this week and once I'm done with that I'm going to do some 15mm Falling Skies.

Any suggestions for the alien airships?

Why not do a quasi-Falling Skies scenario with those? It might be a more interesting setting (at least when it comes to combat) if the aliens use guns.

I am. It's more of a Falling Skies inspired game as opposed to a "simulation". Still, it should be fun.

Will the droids be big enough for the walkers ?

The biomech alien here might be a good alternative

Looking forward to what you have to say.

Copplestone's Bio-mech alien:

I was thinking about borrowing the Aleph Dakini Tacbots from the infinity line:

I think so. Assuming a 15mm model is about 6' tall, that would place this 28mm model at roughly 15-18' tall (it's taller than man sized) and massing a couple of tons which seems about right for the mechs. They definately tower over my humans. Indeed, they aren't too much shorter than my Valkyrie Battletech mechs which I use as light mecha. I'll toss out some pictures later in the week.

TGunner,

Harness?

Hmm … How about getting 2mm round bead strands and adding 4-5 bead portion of strand* to the back of the figure, starting at the base of their skulls?

* Might want to first add some super glue or PVA to the string between the beads, so the entire strand doesn't come undone when you cut the pieces you want.

Hey, it's Christmas and the grammar teacher is on break! 8D

Interesting idea with the beads. I'll check into it.
