Sorry, I havent played 40k in 10 years and I dont frequent any of the related web sites. I heard a rumor however about a Horus Heresy period gaming book due out. I noticed Forge World has increased their number of Heresy period models in the last few years as well.

Can anyone confirm the rumors that this book is coming out? Also, if you know, throw in any other info re: content and release date.

This is the one gaming topic that could draw me back into 40k. Always wanted to collect pre-Heresy World Eaters!

You're a bit behind – it was released at Games Day UK this year, and available on the Forge World site now: link

There's also a review of it here: link

It's going to be a series of books. AND they're doing the Primarchs as well!

Damon.

Wow! I am indeed out of the loop! Thanks for bringing me up to speed. Thats a great review. Too expensive for me this month but maybe in the new year!

Cheers!

Mmm tempting. I haven't played 40k in ages, either, but the Heresy-era was always the big draw for me.

If they put out one box of the basic marines, any of the patterns, in plastic, I'm in. If not then I'm probably going to skip it. I don't think I want a whole resin army of the size I'd need.

Just use the current plastic sets. Thats what im doing. Who cares if its the wrong armor ;-)

As an aside, if anyone owns the book can you tell me if the Marine armies are allowed to field any of the following units:
Traitor Guard, Cultists, Planetary Defense Force.

NO.The book gives a plain space marine codex. Each traitor chapter has something unique to them. The 4 traitor legions have a write-up and stats on there PRIMARCHs.

Sorry, the Legions are detailed before their fall from the Emperor's grace. There is a basic template all of the legions use to build their forces and this template is then modified by which legion you choose. Each Legion has access to a unit that is unique to them and 2 special characters (except the World Eaters, they have only have one :() as well as their primarch. At the time in history that the heresy takes place all legions have access to guard units as well as mechanicus units as allies. Things get chaos-y later.
I'm working on my World Eaters as we type. Go team Angron!

"Blood for the Blood G.."…oh wait, that came later, lol.

Kind of a bummer for that much $ it doesnt even reach the Terra campaign. Ah good old GW.

Dan Wideman II22 Dec 2012 9:28 p.m. PST

They haven't written the Terra campaign part of the Black Library novelization yet. I understand the drama of the story, but for me the draw of 40k used to be the variety of races. Why do people (and GW) keep moving the game more and more to be all marine all the time? I miss my old 3rd edition 40k :(

I think I am approaching grumpy old gamre status.

I havent read any of the HH novels in about 2 years. I think Prospero Burns was the last one. I picked up "Know No Fear" yesterday while at the bookstore. Its funny because whatever HH book I read I end wanting to play that CSM Chapter, lol.

So right now im enjoying the Word Bearers depredations ;-)

Another quick question about the "Betrayal" book.

Does it include any new rules?

In particular, does it cover boarding actions or rules for fighting inside buildings?

Cheers.

U.K.

Asked and answered:

" Zone Mortalis " rules for boarding and building clearing.
