Thanks for the heads up. I ordered two more Tie Advanced and two more Ties. |
eptingmike | 18 Dec 2012 9:03 p.m. PST |

Be wary about overloading on standard TIEs. The Interceptors are game-changing, and most swarms will likely trade off some or all of their standards for them at about a 3:2 ratio. Running 8 of the 12-pointers at 100 points is going to be a thing of the past in short order. |
Balin Shortstuff | 18 Dec 2012 9:41 p.m. PST |
Thanks, just picked up some. |
Anthon | 18 Dec 2012 9:46 p.m. PST |
Yeah Chief, somehow, methinks, I'll be getting a flight of Interceptors as well
at least
.ouch.. Kind Regards Anthon |

Outstanding, just topped off the collection with the numbers I wanted! Too bad they don't also sell the base game. |
Tom Reed | 19 Dec 2012 7:25 a.m. PST |
Amazon does sell the base game. That's where I picked up my second copy. It does look like it is not discounted though. |

FYI, Target is selling the core set for $28 USD right now. |
jdpintex | 19 Dec 2012 8:27 a.m. PST |
You can also get the core set at Barnes & Noble. B&N have been sending out lots of discount coupons (20 – 40%) lately. |
richarDISNEY | 19 Dec 2012 8:37 a.m. PST |
My local Target (in store) price for the core set was $21 USD on Sunday. Bought another box. Not sure if I will get any more. Kinda waiting on phase 2.

I really wish that they would sell the movement and range templates separatley. |
Crankee Doodle | 19 Dec 2012 10:45 a.m. PST |
I just purchased the core set yesterday at Target and haven't played yet. Any recommendations on what to pick up next to take advantage of the Amazon sale? |

"I just purchased the core set yesterday at Target and haven't played yet. Any recommendations on what to pick up next to take advantage of the Amazon sale?" I'd get at least one each of the expansions for the pilots and upgrade cards they contain and another boxed set for the extra dice and templates (and ships). |
Amalric | 19 Dec 2012 12:21 p.m. PST |
Thanks for the info about the sale |
Crankee Doodle | 19 Dec 2012 12:39 p.m. PST |
Thanks for the advice Moonbeast! |

Looked at them at Target. Only found 1 out of 17 sets (three stores) that was of acceptable quality. Wonky Tie Wings, and/or X-Wing Lasers just couldn't make the cut, even at $28. USD Almost got another set, but put it back, since it didn't pass muster – the wiggly laser doomed the fighter. |

I wouldn't turn down the chance to buy standard Ties simply because there's a perceived imbalance in the point costs. That's something that could change with a stroke of the pen. |

?
link link Thank Christ I can get it from other places! |

I hate you guys keep pointing these sales out. I am at 25 ties now and five more on the way. I will never use them all unless it is a convention game but I keep finding good deals on them on line and TMP. I have not even started looking at alternative scales for the game yet and I have tons and tons of those ships. VR James Mattes |
Mako11 | 19 Dec 2012 10:28 p.m. PST |
And that's a bad thing? You can ship any excess ones my way, if you start feeling overly guilty, or overwhelmed
. |

All good deals can be justified (if such a thing is needed) by the phrase "trade bait". |
elsyrsyn | 20 Dec 2012 7:11 p.m. PST |
I finally gave in and bought a core set at Target this evening. If we like it, we'll pick up another and some expansions. Doug |

Is anyone heavily discounting Wave 2 minis yet? Best I've seen for those was about $9.99 USD each. |
CorpCommander | 23 Dec 2012 2:46 p.m. PST |
What is a good number and types of ships for 4 players? I got two base sets at Target for $27 USD and some change each. I ordered 2 Y-wings and Vader's Advanced Tie-Fighter. Would love to know what else I should get. More X-Wings? 2:1 ratio right between Tie and X-Wing? |
A Twiningham | 23 Dec 2012 5:44 p.m. PST |
CC, you will want at least one TIE and one X-wing booster as well since they come with different pilots than the ones in the basic set. |
Mako11 | 23 Dec 2012 9:52 p.m. PST |
A 2:1 ratio of Ties to X or Y-Wings is a good, rough idea. Probably about 1:1 for the Tie Advanced to the Rebel fighters. |
vojvoda | 24 Dec 2012 6:44 a.m. PST |
2 to one is good for the Tie to W-Wing match up. If you use add on cards (we have only used them sparingly) it makes for seemingless endless combinations. I am doing about 3 to 2 in games with the boys. My sons are 12 and 14 and they have no problem controling about 6-10 ships each. I think for convention games I am going to run each player with a flight of 3 ships or 2 flights of 2 ships. I am comfortable running a game for 6 to 8 players and can see the trunch run taking about 50-60 ships. VR James Mattes |
