It occurs to when looking at your comparison and the Artizan site that Artizan Carolongian unarmoured infantry would go very well with GB plastic Saxon thegns as unarmoured Saxons. Almost a perfect match in size and bulk. Time period is the same and these figures have no Carolingian style helmets. Unless that is we can wait for the GB unarmoured plastics to arrive…

Hobhood4 – I think they do match up well. I would say go for it. One Dark Age warrior in a tunic with a spear and shield probably looked pretty much like another warrior with a spear and a shield. The differences were more likely to have been in how stuff was decorated, which is in the paintjob!
