Don't know if I can cross this to the Renaissance Board too. (smile).
Interesting for wargaming.

Very interesting. I've heard a bit about that UFO event and this makes it much clearer.

Yes, I've seen this subject on a number of shows. Of course it makes much more sense and feasable explanation … Not that I don't think there is ET life in the galaxy let alone universe … but this article sounds much more reasonable …

I think it was New Years (day), 1982, in Miami. I was at Tropical Park with my girlfriend and there was a white ring around the Sun.

While I thought it quite amazing to look at, I was never once…alarmed, or worse; but several people around us were exclaiming that it was the end of the world, and such.

Turned out, it was an atmospheric phenomenon, a cold front had moved in the day before and while the sky was crystal clear, it was much colder in the upper atmosphere, causing ice crystal to form around the sun in something like a non-colored "rainbow" affect.

I guess people see what they want to see.

"I wouldn't have seen it if I didn't believe it …", I think the saying goes … wink

Hi Andrew,

I remember seeing exactly the same thing in Australia, Gladstone Queensland, in 1978.
My Grandma had given me a diary and I wrote it up. Still have the book.
