I saw a recent picture of Clint Eastwood the other day (he's not wearing well), which reminded me of his much, much younger days.
I refer to the late 50s, early 60s, when as a child, I would sit very still, hoping to be unnoticed past my bedtime, as the opening music for "Rawhide" started on the telly.
Looking back, they said nothing while I enjoyed the opening credits, but then suddenly "noticed" me, and swiftly "Off to bed, it's a school night".
I never watched a single episode until, over 50 years later, one popped up on one of these strange new channels a few months ago.
Rowdy Yates, Gil Favour, Wishbone, the whole scene.
Well, to put it politely, it was not as good as I had imagined it must be.
Something that I should have left unvisited, maybe.
I now wonder, did anybody else get the bum's rush from a TV programme at bedtime, and have they managed to catch up with it since?

I've recently watched back issues of Have gun will travel and was really impressed with how interesting it still was. I have seen some Rawhide episodes as well and thought they were quite good even in black and white.

As a child, for some mysterious reason, I was determined that I must see The Amazing Colossal Man. My mother was opposed, but after years of my complaints, she finally let me stay up to see it on the late show.

I fell asleep and missed it.

I've still never seen the movie! grin

I bought the boxed set of Hawaii five-O which I remember from my childhood. I cannot remember if I was allowed to watch it at the time? I'd always wanted to see it repeated so bought it the the first time I saw it on sale.

However its not quite as good as I thought it would be. I'm enjoying bits like the cars, but the night club bands and some of the action has made me laugh out loud a few times.
Its good to have on while I'm doing other things as background noise.

I also bought two sets of Lost in Space which is actually quite good.

I've had this experience over and over again. I'm a bit of a videophile. And my Mother had an early to bed policy. I've only been disappointed upon seeing the once forbidden show on maybe two occasions. Though I can't remember just what they were just now.
