Did not understand a single word -my Japanese is better evil grin
YouTube link
but given the location a woman with an animal tail can well be a Huldra of Scandinavian folk lore en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huldra
YouTube link
Often kind to humans, but losing their tail (and magical power) as soon as religiously married -and sometimes cruelly ill-treated for that by a disappointed husband.
Can be just another 'monster on the loose' movie or be as moving as 'E.T.', who knows?

What about setting it in Canada during the FIW, anyway?
EDITED: our Venerated Editor's restrictions notwithstanding, could indeed be inspirational for a 18th C. imagi-native / swashbuckling 'Lacepulp' game TMP link

Oh, those Wildling women…

Trolls* in Canada? Folklore in the 18th C. was more werewolves, feux follets (will o'whisps), L'yable (the Dev'l) and native girls drowning themselves after their lover dies.

That could be very easy to localize…

*Given the wide definition of trolls in Scandinavian culture, a nymph with a tail does fall in it.

And the odd evolution of the Chasse Gallery (= Mesnie Hellequin, the French name of the 'Wild Hunt') to a flying canoe. Btw, Hellequin being red and black, some native warriors with warpiant would have looked very 'devilish'.

But maybe there were some Scandinavians among the European colonists?

Given the wide definition of trolls in Scandinavian culture

Indeed in some cases 'troll' seems to simply mean 'witch' (ot even 'pagan'): in 'Herr Mannelig' YouTube link [btw, good quasi-baroque version, fittingly in Italian: YouTube link] the knight declines to marry the 'troll woman' not because she is ugly or non-human, but only because she is not Christian; and in 'Konungen och Trollkvinnan' YouTube link the 'troll witch' does not use a 'glamour' to catch the heart (at least evil grin) of the king; while 'Trøllabundin' YouTube link simply means 'bewitched'.
Of course this suggests a very new type of game for a 'trollhunter': not at all

This is thus related to the OP, since initially 'witches' were probably the last practitioners (priestesses?) of the Old Religion. And in Norse mythology women were specially associated with the Seiðr magic, of shamanic nature: a shaman in trance communicates with / becomes an animal spirit. It's understandable that suggested a 'shapeshifting' ability, giving during the Renaissance the conviction that the last 'witch people' (Finns) were werewolves (what distinguished them from true wolves being that when they attacked a settlement they drank all the beer! link). Thus the Huldras were probably a deformed reminiscence of the Völur en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%C3%B6lva (which would also explain their 'lustful' nature).

Different setting for chasing tail

New form of internet troll?

Figurines wise, the Slap Miniatures facebook.com/SlapMiniatures 'Mini Fillies' look terribly cute in a 'My Little Pony' way link -though this can partly come from the painting of the examples :

With a tail like that, you'll have to do her cat style.
