Its been a week or so since the Kensei English rules were uploaded to their website, has anyone played it yet? How is the game? For those who do not know what I'm on about link |

Haven't tried it as I'm swamped with work. I plan to spend Christmas holidays reading up on it thought, would love to hear some experiences from other people. |

Have the rulebook, haven't tried the rules out yet. It's kinda in an odd spot, scalewise. 20-100 minis per side makes it bigger than a gang fight, but smaller than a major battle. |

That actually seems to be a popular model-count for games these days; Lion Rampant, Saga, Muskets and Tomahawks (I think I am missing a couple). We could call it Small Battle, between skirmish and major battle. |

I guess that works for pre-rifled firearms combat with 30mm minis. One issue I have is that the units aren't mixed, which is significantly ahistorical. Archers and teppo squads were very different from the typical wargaming idea of "five men with bows"… Should be one samurai in command with an assistant or two and either 5 archers or 3-4 teppo with 2-3 archers to cover while reloading. |
