New TV series slated for 2013 called Defiance. Premise sounds interesting, looking forward to some fun new scifi content on the tube!! "Coming soon to Syfy, Defiance is the innovative serial drama from the minds behind Battlestar Galactica and Farscape. Drifting through a terramorphed American landscape, the mysterious Nolan settles in a border town where aliens and humans fight against the fragility of peace. Tune in weekly as the citizens of Defiance thrive in this hostile world, and see how their struggles impact your war in the high-octane multi-platform MMO shooter from Trion Worlds!" I do wonder though, where all the ammo comes from

Plot even partially based on results of an MMO, no thanks. |

I'll keep a open mind and give it a chance. |

While I'm happy to see the name "Rockne O'Bannon" on the creative team
I wonder what will happen in the absence of muppetry. Will the aliens be reduced to CGI? Have the days of prosthetic tentacles and body paint passed? |

"Plot even partially based on results of an MMO, no thanks." Errr, MMO partially based on plot. C'mon folks, let's read better. |

Hey, it's non-serious escapist scifi -- guys in power armor zapping giant alien bugs, or post-apocy survivors blazing away at baddies, and hot albino alien chicks, and a walking living multi-alien race Star Wars cantina-city setting. What more can you ask for except some internal logic that makes sense in the context of the show setting?? |

Piques my interest and some interesting cast choices. |

Don't worry. If it's any good, SyFy will cancel it in no time flat. |

I am expecting it to be very bad given that Sci-Fi is doing it plus the MMO connection. I'll watch an episode and be pleasently surprised if I feel like watching a second. |

If anyone has played Rift it looks like a sci-fi version. How it translates to a tele series need to wait and see. Novel crossover though; seen plenty of games come of out of movies and vice versa but never co-created. |

"
.serial drama
" are the active words. Probably might be as good as Caprica, or was that "Craprica". Now, if they had a "serial action" series, I might be interested. |

c'mon
.WHAT did you expect with a title like 'Sharktopus' AND the fact that it was done by Roger Corman with his daughter as co-writer or whatever????? SyFy has done some EXCELLENT stuff
like Eureka and a few others
but they also put 'wrestling' and 'ghosthunting' in prime-time slots too
.which wouldn't still be there if viewership and SPONSORSHIP dollars weren't there! "I VOTE WITH MY REMOTE" should be a bumper sticker/t-shirt slogan
.(as well as patronizing or boycotting sponsors those companies that back shows that you love or hate
(or love TO hate
.?)
That's one of the reasons I don't watch C-Span
.I already have the Comedy Channel
.Mwah-hah-hah! |

> Errr, MMO partially based on plot. I had read on SYFY earlier that the two (game and show) would work off of each other, unless they have changed their minds the plot will be partially based on events in the game. |

dentatus 14 Dec 2012 1:35 p.m. PST: "Don't worry. If it's any good, SyFy will cancel it in no time flat." Are you sure you don't mean Fox Television, the strangler of healthy viable intelligent interesting series in their cribs? |
