Hi all

Another game of X Wing earlier this week and a head to head duel between Skywalker Snr and Skywalker Jnr plus our first test of Y Wings and Ion Cannons

Cheers

Liked the report.

There's a couple of players out there who are adamant the Y-Wing is utterly useless.

Then you see reports like yours where they save the day.

I'll admit I tend to do the math in my head, but I try not to be too much of a Munchkin when I play these games.

Playing the decrepit old Wishbones alongside the hotter X-Wings adds a lot of flavor to the game for me.

Not every battleship can be the Yamamoto. The Y wing has some limitations that force the play to adjust tactics accordingly.

I agree that the Y-Wing has it's advantages. Sure, taking nothing by Y-Wings isn't a winning strategy IMO … but a mixed force I think is a better option … provided you have a strategic bone in your body ;-)

Double proton torpedoes, and an ion cannon will add considerably to their punch, but cost a lot in points.

I have to admit their was a certain pleasure in seeing the Y Wing fly like a brick but slow the TIE fighter to a crawl and shoot bits off it… pretty frustrating for my opponent though grin

Introduced my gaming group (4 other guys) to the game last night.

Vader + 4 Unique TIEs vs. Wedge, Horton, and a Red X-Wing.

Red X-Wing had incredible rolls, lived almost to the very end, and had 3 TIE kills.

Horton had R2-D2 and the ion turret. New guys were more than a little irritated that his shields kept reforming after every pass. Actually finished off a TIE with a range 3 shot with his primary guns – only took the shot because it was the only one in range. TIE rolled 4 blanks.

Game came down to Wedge vs. Vader at nearly full strength (two of the new players). Head to head, and Vader nailed Wedge with a full 3 damage points with no evasion for Wedge.

First question after the game… so, when do we get A-Wings?

February! And I can't wait for all of the Wave 2 stuff.
