An extensive write up of our refight of one of the less well known battles of the Hundreds Years War

Originally it was a walk over for the English, but will history repeat itself? Find out on the blog folks:

Very nice battle report. It is always interesting to find a little known battle to learn about. Thank you very much for sharing.

Yes, thanks for posting – another one I didn't know about. Anyway, it's good to see longbow types having a bad day…

Nice game, I recently played a similar period HYW game with Hail Caesar. Did you do any special rules for the Longbows? I gave the English LB, -1 save at short range. Rear support add one die to the shooting of the front rank unit (i.e. 4 shots). I also gave each long bow unit a marker (A sack with a shief of arrows from Front Rank) that allowed them to once a game shoot with one extra die. It worked well, the French struggled to close the gap, but the one area they focued thier heavy troops they were able to break the English line. It was a good game. Keep positng these batreps.

Nice looking game and very interested to read your game report – we're planning to put this game on at next year's Salute show with the Lance and Longbow Society.
Some figures being prepared on my blog for info.

Thanks for the write up. 100 Years War is one of the periods of history I want to play, it is just so colorful. Hail Caesar is the set of rules I would use if I ever get the figures together.

Spooner6: I didn't apply any special rules for longbows, largely as I don't like to over complicate the rules, but also as by the 1400's horse armour was often adequate to protect from plunging fire and full plate was largely impervious to all but direct fire. What I did do however was give most of the French troops a stamina of only 5, which makes a notable difference to their resilience…
