I recntly puchased a very nice 1/144 scale Cafe Reo pre-painted A-6A Intruder . It is painted in the gray upper upper fuselage and lower white fuselage scheme typical of USN aircaft of the Vietnam era through the late eighties and early nineties. Although its a fantastic model their are some minor issues I'd like to rectify. Does anyone know what the grey paint was called its Federal Stndard Number and/or whether any model paint of it is available in acrylic? I think it might be FS 36440 Flat Gull Gray but I'm not certain Please help! Lotsa Thanks in advance Bruce the Texas Grognard |

It's actually Light Gull Gray. I believe it's FS26440. White Ensign does a very good match. Mr. Hobby and Testors are quite close too. eBay has them all available. |

The first digit in the 5 digit FS color code indicates the glossiness of the color – 3=matt, 2=semi-gloss, 1=gloss. So 26440 is just the semi gloss version of 36440. |
