Looks like you got it right as I see it.

I like 'em. Great job on muddying up the trousers a bit for that authentic feel.

They look great. As Flat Beer and Cold Pizza said the mud really adds to your great paint job. I now think of you as the, "Mud King." And I mean that in a good way after seeing your tutorials and other figures with the mud effect. Really brings them to life.

Very nice.
I'm working on a Landwehr battalion at the moment myself. Calpe also.
Fantastic miniatures.

Oh yes… Those Calpe minis are just Bleeped texting nice, are they not!

I have had more impressive nicknames than that, but I can live with mud king!

Looks like the portrait wears grey, but the miniatures wear blue. Did I miss something?

General concensus these days isthat Knötel got the colour of the jackets wrong. Regarding the trousers some men might have worn the regulation grey trousers later on, but during the 1813 stage white is definately right. Which might also explain the colirmof the jacket f he was depicting the soldier later on with the colur of the jacket already having faded.

Mud? Only one way to do it. Just at the east corner of the wall at Hougomont, in the ploughed field, I fill a can at every opportunity. For basing only and mixed with PVA glue, it works. Snag is I have run out again after finishing my Grenadiers a Cheval of the Guard.

That is just brilliant on the knees only. It is one of those "Oh obviously, why did I not think of that?" moments. Boots of course, hooves and horses legs…..why did I never look at my lads and think….backsides and knees!
