I've converted the three Zvezda 1:100 plastic T-34 tank models into something more futuristic/post-apocalyptic for my Stalingrad 2072 project, using bits from Ground Zero Games and 15mm.co.uk.

Here is the latest work-in-progress:

Awesome! I did a similar thing for my Neo-Sovs using 28mm/ 1:48 T-34s. Keep us posted!

I would have used 1:87 T-34s, but hey…they look good.

Some pictures w/ infantry?

Very nice. I like the conversion. What paint scheme will you use?

Kind of disturbs me because they look more like Weird World War II than 2072 post apoc. Curious about your rational behind using a 140 year old tank frame instead of something along the lines of the T-80 or T-90? Khurasan's Red Faction tank has the futuristic Soviet look, then maybe greeblie it up like Mad Max for the post apoc look. Just wondering. Unless you plan to double-duty the armor for WWWII and post apoc, then by all means a good cost saving idea.

You'd hate what I'm doing then.I boughtseveral of the Zvezda German and Russian kits for similar, and want to add more. The idea is that they would be antiquated rusty hulks for a Rebel faction, die in droves types.

Didn't some one write that WWIV will be fought with T-34's? If you can find scads of T-80's abandoned in the woods in the Ukraine, no reason for T-34's to be kept in a vast underground tank park waiting to be scrapped or used for target practice.
Don't forget Arty tractors, engineering vehicles, ad-hoc APC/battle taxis and drone tanks, you can do a lot with that chassis. Or any tank chassis, mix them up with others.

Nice work!

Great idea – and a T-34 can be kept running a lot easier than a T-80

You've all convinced me – these will go to a future Weird war project while I'll use Khurasan Red Lightnings for the Reds!

Moqawama08 Dec 2012 4:32 a.m. PST

Lol, actually more people agreed with the T-34 choice than criticized it!

However, hey, it's your game!

Do what you feel right.

Hmmm… I might use these as scrapyard light tanks, and Khurasan Red Eagles as the main tanks for the Reds.
