Hi every one some more new buildings for you to take a look at.

The release date for these are 1st Febuary, but if I get enough pre orders they will be released sooner.

There are ten in total all available to order on the website at 15% discount.

There are lots more bits being made to go with these, some walls and walk ways that will connect the larger buildings.

I will also be trying to get some building accessories done to release at the same time.

Please let me know what you think.

Cute abodes for "barsoomian" SF

Angel Barracks07 Dec 2012 10:37 a.m. PST

I was not sure until I saw the whole town, now I am convinced.
Very Cool.
The gateway section is aces.
The more I look at them the more I can imagine painting them up and inventing a whole background to go with what is quite clearly a tight knit community settlement.

Tis also a bit of a pooper though as it is not a million miles away from a series of buildings I was thinking of.
You rotter!

I agree! Very Mos Eisley-ish!!

While I do like the overall structure and design, some of the texture seem a bit rough, even for adobe or similar construction.

I agree with Angel Barracks at first glance the buildings did not impress me until I saw them as a completed group. The gate section linking them all together makes for a community feel instead of a bunch of isolated huts I could throw down in a random manner. I suggest the following improvements.

1. An additonal gate that can handle vehicles.

2. The stairs reworked so they can hold a 15mm miniature on a penny or washer base.

They are fab!! I'm very tempted!

wscarvie07 Dec 2012 11:54 p.m. PST

Gotta agree. In isolation, they're ok. But together they're REALLY cool.

deflatermouse08 Dec 2012 12:25 a.m. PST

Yes Ape city. Going against group opinion (as usual)I am very happy with them individually. Could happily have in singles amongst rocky gullies & ridges.

AVAMANGO08 Dec 2012 12:43 a.m. PST

The group shot sold me to, i also think that they look as though they just came from the Planet of the apes film set.

Thanks for the feedback, the idea in these is to have a fully enclosed town.

There are five different wall sections planned, two more with arch ways, one which will be big enough to allow access for vehicles. There will also be some ramps and steps leading up to the roof of the larger buildings.

If I find the time I will also get some more building accessories made to go with them before they are released, some doors to go with the arch ways some pipe work vents snd some other bits and pieces.

To address a couple of the issues, I had one which has some larger steps leading to the roofs, I also thought it would be an idea to have steps that figures can stand on,they did how ever look very out of place on the smaller buildings, thats why I will make some separate ones for the larger buildings.

The texture on the buildings them selves I thought looked fine, but I will be remaking the large flat roofs as some of the texture does look a bit to much.
I will also have a good look at the buildings and see if a bit of sanding down is needed.

I will mold the first one before Christmas and get it painted, these building will look better with a bit of paint on them.

Would you prefer the extra detailed pieces vents ect on the castings , or as separate packs.

Cheers

Mike

Separate packs. Means you can decied on the tech level you want for them.

The group shot does look good!

Eli Arndt08 Dec 2012 7:01 a.m. PST

Separate. This will give them a wider array of uses. Right now they can be used as fantasy, alien, scifi space opera, etc..

I'm actually thinking about buying a set of them for the Space Raptors I'll get from Eli Arndt's kickstater. Of course, I'll have to spice them up with bits from The Scene, Combat Wombat and GZG to make them fit the Space Raptors' high-tech theme.

Cacique Caribe08 Dec 2012 1:23 p.m. PST

They also remind me of "Paradise City" on Nimbus III (Trek V).

OOoo.. good point Dan.

I hope Matt Allerman (Astro Minis)is seeing these!

Need to find Sleestak minis.

malleman08 Dec 2012 3:34 p.m. PST

Yes, I have been eyeing them. I love how they blend together, but I was thinnking Planet of the Apes!! These go so well with so many different themes. I am also thinking Conan or Beastmaster.

John Treadaway09 Dec 2012 6:31 a.m. PST

Agreed with everything everyone said: much more impressive as a group. They'll look far better with just a spray of tan paint and a wash of sepia or something.

Seperate extra components as positioning and tech levels can be established by the owner plus it often makes it easier to paint them off the buildings rather than already on.

Good stuff.

The group setting is a winner. Together they look like a cohesive village.

palaeoemrus09 Dec 2012 11:16 p.m. PST

It looks like that area in Tunisia where lucas filmed some of the Tatooine parts of Starwars.

With the scene addons, these will be fantastic!

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP23 Dec 2012 10:04 p.m. PST

Dan, nailed it! When I saw them I immediately thought of Ape City. Now wouldn't it be great to have Ape figs in 15mm.

Thanks,

John
