This set of rules was mentioned in another thread

TMP link

Being the rules-junkie that I am as well as being interested in naval warfare during the era covered by the rules---I must have them.

Anyone know where I can find a copy of Iron Ships & Wooden Heads by Tim Gow?

(I think Tim frequents TMP so I am hoping if all else fails he will help me out!)

Thank you!

I wrote a set by that name about twenty five years ago, based loosely (VERY loosely) on the Battletech damage allocation system. I have been running games at cons in the Detroit area for years and giving away copies, I could send you a PDF of mine if you like.

My e mail is daftrica89 at yahoo dot com.

I will dig out my backup copy of ISWH and make it available via my blog later this week. I'llpost on this thread when it's done. Be patient though, as it may take some finding – the original was written 4 computers ago….

Well done, Desert Fox … I'm looking forward to having another look, too: Tim visited our local group ages ago and put on an entertaining evening game for us …

The most recent version of the ISWH rules is now available by following the link on my blog: link
When I originally wrote the rules I put together a couple of scenarios too. I'll get them posted over the next few days.

Thank you Tim, much appreciated!

I tried leaving a comment on your blog but don't seem able to master it. I am really pleased to see these again – the original magazine article was one of my all-time favourites (although I don't remember the Bleeped text-Off Class battleships … )

I used asterisks!

all I can say is that it is the best name for a set of rules I've seen in AGES!

It would also make a great name for a book on command in naval warfare of the modern era…

Scenario 2 now posted: link

Tim,

Is it possible to have a copy with the Copyright as a watermark?

I do understand why, but I have to confess old age (or infirmity), my eyes do find it hard to read as it is… 8^(

Many thanks if you can!
