I've started making progress in my project for Prehistoric Pulp. A setting for cavemen, dinomen, sentient apes & more.

Eventually I'll be hammering out the skirmish rules, right now I've been focused more on collecting minis & painting hunting parties.

The blog post that starts it off is here

Some photos so far:

Latest post is here:

My plan is to have over a dozen playable factions along with 'wandering monsters' that are a danger to both players.

Who makes those raptors?

Laughing Ferret30 Nov 2012 2:36 p.m. PST

raptors are Ral Partha, can get them from Ral Partha Europe

Thanks. I just saw that Iron WInd Metals carries them as well.

You have sharper eyes than I do then, I'd looked for them at Iron Wind and didn't find them- small matter, I had to order something else from RPE anyway, but nice to know there is a closer source in case I want more

I love how you painted my Vardu sprouts. The pink and white flower petals and blue interior really "pop." I can't wait to see what you have next!

Great ideas there! You may want to look at 1:35th scale dino-models(usually on sail at squadron.com)for some 'Big'uns'.

You used the good raptors! Well done that man!

Quick note for those interested: the RPE/Ironwind raptors were sculpted by the late, great Dennis Mize. If you have trouble finding them, he sculpted some for Reaper too.

Very cool Ferret.

Hey Warren, I think you'd like this dino. It's got a Droconid Warrior rider whose got a hunting raptor on his wrist.

Inspiring use of pet store scenery too!

Lovely.
Would a fellow be able to included a lost Zeppelin with attendant Fokker VIIs as options in your rules?

Love those hydra sprouts. Waiting for the Vardu warriors.

Laughing Ferret02 Dec 2012 11:30 a.m. PST

Thanks all :)

The T-rex is Papo, I got it at Amazon

The plant creatures are from Hydra and a real joy to paint, Raptors are Ral Partha, cavemen are Copplestone and big ape is from Pontoonier(the Arkansas Swamp Monster)

deflatermouse (great name) the rules are going to be pure prehistoric -though 'pulp' in that it's going to mash many million years of time before Homo sapiens and run it all as coexistant, along with creatures that 'might have been', but no victorian or modern stuff. A fictional prehistoric setting, rather than a Lost World. At first at least- I want to get the balance right for everything of the past, then I'm sure I'll start toying with supplement rules to run it as a 'Lost World' or Pellucidar to let Victorian through WWII explorers in, or Time Travelers Alien Totem Hunters, etc.
