Here's our Federal xenobiologist, painted up by the astonishing Marike Reimer. As you can see, Marike is at the top of her croft. :)

picture

Sculpted by Tom Meier (who else)? Production castings still being spun but I should have in a few weeks. Cheers for looking.

mad monkey 129 Nov 2012 1:14 p.m. PST

Jaw dropping.

Very nice!

Wish we could get him to sculpt some Moonbase girls.

Time for me to see if I can get my grandma's old magnifying embroidery light…

khurasanminiatures29 Nov 2012 1:49 p.m. PST

Model compared to US penny.

picture

The penny almost looks like a threatening object in an Indiana Jones film! grin

Ravenseye29 Nov 2012 1:54 p.m. PST

My god man…that is amazing!

I am sooo looking forward to when my bonus is in, my 15mm collection will be growing at a scary rate…

Tom, Marike, and Khurasan for the win. Astonishingly good!

Definitely worth a WOW

doug redshirt29 Nov 2012 2:27 p.m. PST

Is it me or does Tom Meier do some of the most jaw dropping 15/18mm figures out there? I look at them and go how can these realisticly proportioned creations be that damn small. I have several of them in my collection and just cant put paint on the figure because it would be a crime to deface it with my painting.

Angel Barracks29 Nov 2012 2:41 p.m. PST

Tom Meier is a witch!

boy wundyr x29 Nov 2012 2:44 p.m. PST

I think I just learned how to paint bare knees…

Timbo W29 Nov 2012 2:51 p.m. PST

Wow and double wow – she'd be a great 28mm, let alone 15mm

"top of her croft"

You're killing me!

Seriously superb mini and fantastic paint job!

Mako1129 Nov 2012 3:54 p.m. PST

The sculpting is superb, but the paint job really rocks that mini!

I can't imagine painting eyes like that in 15mm/18mm scale.

Yesthatphil29 Nov 2012 3:56 p.m. PST

Very pretty thumbs up! Some of the well known practitioners who sculpt and paint 28mm females could learn a trick or two from studying this softer approach …

blacksmith29 Nov 2012 4:15 p.m. PST

Cannot believe it.

cfielitz29 Nov 2012 4:44 p.m. PST

You've got to be kidding! My jaw is now on the floor!

BrotherSevej29 Nov 2012 5:26 p.m. PST

You've got to pay for my jaw surgery!

Jamesonsafari29 Nov 2012 5:37 p.m. PST

I really hate these guys who can paint a 15mm figure better than most of us paint 28s….

Tgunner29 Nov 2012 6:04 p.m. PST

The penny almost looks like a threatening object in an Indiana Jones film!

Jeeze! That's what I was thinking when I saw that picture.

Wow… that is absolutely amazing. I can't believe that she's a 15mm miniature. The next time someone rattles on about 15mm having no detail I'm going to link this mini!

Okay, I don't normally do pulp characters but I've GOT to get this one!

SpaceJacker29 Nov 2012 6:09 p.m. PST

I intensely dislike the franchise this mini resembles, but that's nothing a bit of creative coloring won't fix. An absolute must-have model, painted spectacularly.

Eli Arndt29 Nov 2012 7:33 p.m. PST

Daaaaaaamn…

That is all.

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART29 Nov 2012 7:54 p.m. PST

Ditto all the above. Total awe!!!

Adam name not long enough29 Nov 2012 9:11 p.m. PST

So…

I need one for my daughter to use in our Shadowrun games, one for her to use in our Zombie games, one for her to use in our sci-fi games…right, then the wife…

How many do you put in the unit builder packs?

stroezie29 Nov 2012 9:39 p.m. PST

So, Tom Meier…. weighs less than….. a duck?

Umpapa29 Nov 2012 11:23 p.m. PST

I didnt knew Jon that making this false oversized penny could be so profitable. ;)

Awesome. I would give my fourth tentacle to be able to paint like that.

AWuuuu30 Nov 2012 4:05 a.m. PST

We should kidnap this Meier guy, and force him to sculpt only 15mm stuff…

:)

<Umpapa>I didnt knew Jon that making this false oversized penny could be so profitable. ;)</ q>

Yeah with rapid prototyping it would be easier to get bigger coin that this miniature :>

T Meier30 Nov 2012 4:48 a.m. PST

… making this false oversized penny…

Because of the camera angle and it's placement, the penny is actually making the figure seem a bit bigger than it is. A penny is 19mm, the figure is about 16mm from the base to the top of the head (15mm 'to the eyes' in line with Khurasan's other figures)- just so you know for compatibility.

I can't imagine how Marike paints eyes like that, amazing.

khurasanminiatures30 Nov 2012 6:01 a.m. PST

SpaceJacker, what would Tony Hill say???

grin

Would love to see your paintup of this model.

Yes Tom and Marike are a formidable combination:

picture

By the way, I think that may be the look on Tom's face when I ask him if he'll make a line of 15mm sci fi for me…. wink

Sloppypainter30 Nov 2012 11:01 a.m. PST

We gotta make him an offer he cannot refuse!

Wellspring01 Dec 2012 4:09 p.m. PST

He's already a legend IMO for his 28mm work, but when I see one of his 15mm minis, I'm always stunned to learn that it's 15mm. A stunning paint job helps, of course.

We need more characters in 15mm sci fi, so this is a welcome addition.

Mako1101 Dec 2012 6:05 p.m. PST

Hmmm, just thinking out loud.

Would love to see a Mrs. and Mr. Smythe as well.

You know, the two people who live quite well in suburbia, not really knowing what the other does for a living, and eventually finding out. Then getting into a tremendous brawl and gun battle later, thoroughly wrecking their home, but eventually reconciling at the end of the flick, in order to fight others that are against both of them.

They'd be great for a cinematic action game, or three.

What about Evelyn Salt?

Mako1101 Dec 2012 8:20 p.m. PST

Yea, she'd be nice too, or the Catherine Zeta Jones cat burglar, trying to avoid those laser detector beams like in the movie.

khurasanminiatures01 Dec 2012 8:34 p.m. PST

By the way, I think that may be the look on Tom's face when I ask him if he'll make a line of 15mm sci fi for me…

You say that like it's a bad thing!

And I second the request to make Tom "an offah he cannah refuze…"

Yessss… he needs to make a line of high-tech cyberpunk infantry… :D

I made the mistake of googling pictures OF Ms. Reimer. Totally forgot about her paint work.

Yes, yes, I'll go with astonishing…
