Lordy, that is a LOT of pink.

Maybe they're trying to appeal to pre-teen girls? There is always a new market to explore…

Look like pretty Marines to me!

Space Monkey25 Nov 2012 5:15 p.m. PST

No one will see them coming.

They're labelled pre-Heresy, but Emperor's Children wore purple with gold trim before committing to Chaos…

LordNth25 Nov 2012 5:32 p.m. PST

For $500 USD I would except the flocking to be free of pink paint….

Garand25 Nov 2012 5:47 p.m. PST

Yep, I think someome wasn't paying attention…

Not only are they pink and incorrectly painted, but whomever invested in this army dropped A LOT of money on it. ALL of it is Forgeworld, except for the not-Fulgrim and maybe a couple others…

Edit: on second look, they may actually be GW's lighter purple and the photos might not be doing them any favors.

Damon.

Emperor's Children wore purple with gold trim before committing to Chaos…

Maybe they wore pink on their day off ?

They look pretty reasonable to me – after all, what's the mantra ? "Pick a colour scheme and stick to it". Can't fault them on that.

redmist112225 Nov 2012 5:59 p.m. PST

well…it is fantasy gaming?

The codexs aren't true……how can that be ? All of it, just made up ?

I won't believe it ! grin

The Pepto-Bismol chapter…

It takes a real man to wear pink, or dress as Zardoz. I'll be kind and leave you with the image.

Onw would think cancer was a serious issue in this universe.

goragrad25 Nov 2012 9:28 p.m. PST

Actually the text states that the color is 'Valejo Warlord Purple.' Perhaps the sensor was off in the camera?

At any rate, my niece thinks they look good.

Baggy Sausage25 Nov 2012 10:07 p.m. PST

I am not sure it appeals to girls, I showed my 12 year old daughter and she asked "Why would they do that?"

You would think that if you paid those kind of prices you would put a little more thought into the paint scheme.

CeruLucifus25 Nov 2012 10:31 p.m. PST

One of the images is a scan from (I presume) a GW book showing a marine painted in this chapter's colors. It's a pinkish purple, very close to the pink in the photographs. Maybe all the images color shifted a little?

sneakgun26 Nov 2012 2:44 a.m. PST

I think they are purple, but they look pink.

Aksakal26 Nov 2012 3:19 a.m. PST

Panted more than I have…

I have Vallejo Warlord Purple, it is quite pinkish.

Even given some slack for the camera/lighting not rendering complete accuracy, there are a LOT of purple choices out there that could be used as, "accurate," and are faaar less pinkish, more, "purpley."

Even if one is limiting themselves to just Vallejo.

I think he should have had a bit heavier hand with the techniques… highlighting, blending, layering, washes, whatever – there is some of that, but not enough to break the eye-watering expanse of uberbright, flat color.

Valator26 Nov 2012 10:52 p.m. PST

Well… it sold, so there was obviously a market for it. Warhammer 40K players are an interesting bunch. A little bit of everything under the sun can show up across the table from you.

Taking bets on whether the buyer intends to strip and repaint?

AndrewGPaul27 Nov 2012 3:59 a.m. PST

That lot costs £431.00 GBP (about $690 USD) new, not including the seven plastic Devastators and the "Fulgrim" model (probably from Kabuki).Getting it for $450 USD is a pretty decent deal, even if you've got to deal with the paintwork. Even apart from the unfortunate colour choice, it's rather poorly painted.

goragrad27 Nov 2012 12:27 p.m. PST

Well, my nieces older sister and younger brother also like them. For the nephew the color is not a problem, for the niece it is a definite plus.

I will have to be sure and keep them away from the 40K sites and hobby shops in the future.

Valator27 Nov 2012 5:54 p.m. PST

Won the bidding, Goragrad?
