In the spirit of the American Thanksgiving holiday, here is a new board for discussion by and about the wonderful people who are the spouses and 'special others' of wargamers.

Do what you think is right but no spouses are invited into my shed – mostly.

Would they be known as Stiflettes, if they copt one from other TMPers?

Can't assume they're female, can you? grin

Captain dEwell22 Nov 2012 5:57 p.m. PST

Hmmm, good point well made

Well if the RAAF Aerobatic Display team can be called the Roulettes, and they are very masculine (by Air Force standards) I don't see why these can't be the stiflettes…

I mean we've now got a board for spouses for the love of god, lets not worry about the details…

Well, I for one, am extremely glad to see a wargamers spouses message board. I question how many spouses will actually post on it, but nonetheless, a warm welcome to all spouses.

I'm not too sure why my comment about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic was censored…suffice it to say I am underwhelmed by this latest small victory for the PC brigade….

I will of course eat my words if the spouses prove to be a humourous and or informative bunch, and lets face it their contributions can hardly be less relevant than some of the posts we've seen here of late about soccer, TV programs that have nothing to do with military history or gaming, and so on….actually I think I've just talked myself around…

Lets see how it goes….

(PS – Having now read my messages I see Bill thought I was referring to TMP as the Titanic – nothing was further from my thought, I have recently posted my opinion that TMP is going from strength to strength – actually it was the eponymous decision to create a Spouses board that I was likening to that doomed vessel – but as stated I may have been a trifle hasty and will watch developments with interest…I will of course, technically, be unable to contribute myself!)

Whats wrong with football aka soccer old chap? Eureka make figures for that genre so it is miniatures related…<smug look>

We need LESS boards for easier browsing and more intermixing of ideas, opinions and chat.

More boards just means even more fragmentation and specialism.

Stupid.

Well its never been of interest to me, which is fine, extreme knitting never has either. But for some reason, unlike other activities, soccer fans seem to feel that its ok to blether on about their sport on this forum, as if its of universal interest…This deluded belief that soccer if of interest to everyone is not confined to TMP, I grant you, on Thursday the Australian Broadcasting Corporation was leading with a story about David Beckham leaving his LA club – Why? He's not Australian, He's never played for Australia, the only remotely Australian thing about him is that his wife's pretty fit…

You have me there – thats come as a bit of a shock – I can only assume that because Nic's such a thoroughly decent bloke he can't say no to anyone….

sigh…

Thats the same noise Mrs Provost makes when she sees me hunched over the painting table or reading Tintin comics in bed.

A bit of pondering.

If the board is made for the spouses of wargamers to comment upon, then it assumes that there are a significant number of feamles connected with or acquainted with the game to navigate to TMP to post. And to whom? It assumes that they would care. While I personally know some wargame wives who do game they are very few in number, and it is debatable if they would come on the group to talk.

Not saying it shouldn't be done.

I'm just questioning the utility of it all.

What if the spouse is a male?
