Hi- I have the original Squarebashing Rules & both army list books.
Clearly the new ruleset is a big upgrade on the original book.
I also appreciate the new lists cover new ground like Chaco, Mexico etc.
However can you use the old lists with the new rules or is it too much of a reboot?

The new lists include all the assets (which I believe are a new mechanism), and the 'pre-game' events (again, new I think), so you'll need them both.

Whether the armies are the same size in v1 and v2, I couldn't say.

The armies are bit smaller if anything, but the core stuff (foot, guns, cavalry, armoured vehicles) are pretty much the same.

There are less wierd and fiddly exceptions in the army lists, the eccentricities of each side are captured more by the pre-game set up and the asset lists, and less by a ton of special rules and odd unit types.

Anyhow, I haven't encountered any issues mapping my old SB armies onto the new ones. I will probably buy some more Boers though as I didn't have many to start with.

hmmm thanks it'll have to wait a while then, £32.00 GBP in one lump is a bit outside my budget at mo'. I'll aim to get my 10mm 1914 Belgians & Huns painted by August 2014 by the latest though!
