My son is working on zombies/ghouls from Mantic and some eM4 trooper conversions which we plan on encorporating into a PA setting of some sort. Which direction should we go- Legend, Walking Dead, Stand, or a little more futuristic with a Resident Evil type setting. I like the concepts and backgrounds of all of them.

I would go Resident Evil style, but without the magic.

Maybe Book of Eli and zeds, so from the great war (flash they call it?) you have a semblance of community but with zombies, so it is good guys vs bad guys and or zeds, for a change of pace.
Zeds all the time could get tedious, hence the gang/human aspect too.

Yes, we were thinking a RE type setting might be more versitile. Yes without magical like powers. I had forgotten about Eli. We were considering some sort of asteroid strike with an unknown virus that shortly followed killing and causing all sorts of mayhem. Was it random or sent here from light years away. Perhaps a longterm extermination and recolonization effort from beyond our galaxy? Who knows.

Retro 50's Fallout 3 wins hands down and it has a great soundtrack!

Book of Eli would get my vote, with a side order of Doomsday. Also check out the zombie troopers from Mantic if you haven't already.

Mix Book of Eli, Doomsday & Fallout series and you've got your self a good background. evil grin

If you want to incorporate an asteroid, how about……..

An asteroid strike releases a unknown alien virus which causes damaged tissue to quickly heal (re-animate if dead) and terran species to mutate. In a effort to stop the spread the worlds governments nuke the infected areas, but they waited to long and the world is all but destroyed but for a few unlucky souls.

So you got low tech human survivors (those immune to the virus)……bandits, settlers, nomads, cultists, traders, scavengers etc.

Higher tech humans could be from government bunkers/vaults.

Virus zombies (re-animated dead humans) and virus ghouls (mutated humans).

Zombie animals and weird new mutated animal species (two headed cattle, giant bugs etc).

Hey Earl I like it. Leaves the wasteland somewhat unexplored with maybe pockets of survivors out there. Some forms of organized society still barely intact. Basically leaves all kinds of altered species wandering the unknow regions. Again I like it. Allows you to do scenarios during and after the fall.
