Those are great and you did a great job on those AB figures my favorites. Im not sure those are the right models for Uk forces tho I think you might have used M5/M9 half tracks..Mikey

Great work, even though the Airfix half track is neither one thing nor another. Back in the 1960's when the kit was first produced, they used a post war example of an M14 AA vehicle as the basis for their model. The turrets were removed from all British M14s and they were converted for use as infantry carriers, ambulances, prime movers, GS cargo carriers, command vehicle, etc.

Here's a great link to an article showing how to convert the Airfix kit to a British army model

Using the same kit, you could attempt a conversion to a moderately accurate WWII US halftrack.

Simply:
- Discard the MG pulpit (it's completely the wrong shape)
- Reshape and enclose the mudguards
- Correct or replace the headlamps
- Remove the rear mudflaps
- Carve off the hinge details and scribe new panel lines on the hull sides
- Thin down the oversized mine racks
- Unless you have an ancient kit with full tarp option, make some sort of tarp to hide the bulkhead and the fact the vehicle has no valid interior
- Throw away the trailer…

Or of course you could just do what we did back then call it a 1/2 track and use it to carry your British and American infantry.

Thank you guys!
I reckon that I lack some basic knowledge regarding historical accuracy and painting. I will write down your suggestions for my future projects. Long, live and learn. :)

What I did was move the headlamps, cut away most of the bulkhead in the center and put a simple bench seat on each side of the troop compartment. Much like this one

picture
(not mine) except I left off the mine racks and cut away the excess plastic between the MG mounting ring and 'pulpit' sides.

For those interested in rescuing this old kit, I noticed there is a section on it in the new(ish) book "Build and Convert Airfix Military Models". Short review here:

Also, when I had a flip though it in the local newsagent, the Commonwealth halftracks depicted looked very much like some models I am sure I have seen before on TMP…
