So, imagine you could commission a rule set to cover any period of your choice by any author of your choosing. Which period would you choose and who would you choose to write them?

Classical Ancients

Franco-Prussian War – Rich Clarke of TooFatLardies

I've been waiting patiently for years as I know he will eventually come up with the goods.

I can tell.

;-)

Okay, I'd be happy with both of the above!
But I'd love to see Howard Whitehouse rules for the
Indian Mutiny.

Waco,
We should put together a petition.

AWI by Richard Borg. I know he has done it, but I haven't seen it. Clash for a Continent/Hold the Line just didn't do it for me.

Sci-fi by Phil Barker.

If only Steve Mynes would write a set of Zulu War rules.

Scott MacPhee19 Nov 2012 3:30 p.m. PST

There are already two rules sets which, if I had to choose just one game to play for the rest of my life, I would choose one of them.

…………… Jeff Jonas can beat up either of them.

:)

Allegedly the TFL were making a set of ECW rules called 'In the Buffe' but I've heard no more – any news?

Oh, and of course the long awaited 'War of Jenkin's Ear' by John the OFM.

Field of Battle by Brent Oman. It covers 1700-early WWI so I'm not too limited. The core rules are also being used for Ancients which I love. Best set of rules I have ever played!

Thanks,

John

Simple ancient rules conceived by Phil Barker but written by somebody who can make themselves understandable to a wide community of players.

What Fat Wally said – Franco-Prussian War by Rich Clarke.
Hopefully it would work with the 12 man/4 stand infantry units I have.

AWI by Artie Conliffe. I really like Crossfire; although, I've not seen a successful attempt to grow this to multiple players per side. If he could do for AWI what he did for WWII with Crossfire, that might be really interesting. The recent issue of Miniature Wargames had an interesting article about a "morale game" by Wally Simon. Combining some of those ideas with some of Artie's other ideas might make a real winner.

Sailing naval (pirate, perhaps) skirmish game by Chris Palmer (of GASLIGHT). This would be something where each player has one ship and there might be just three or four on a side. Enough sailing detail to make commanding a single boat interesting and provide tactical decisions to the player.

Spearhead 2 by Arty Conliffe. A refresh and update would be great.
