I just purchased an assortment of HYW and WOTR figures to see if they would work well with a bunch of Warhammer Bretonnians I earlier obtained.

I have to say that the Front Rank figures are simply gorgeous. Not only to they mix well size-wise such that they seamlessly can be mixed on the same base as GW figures, but the quality of the sculpting is better than any other historical range I have seen.

Yep, definitely a favorite.

I have painted some 1000s of front rank WOTR since they came out over 12 years ago now i think! I have never got bored with them either, they are simply the best sculpted late medievals around. The armour is simply fantastic.
I just wish one of the other manufacturers would have brought out a range of their own to fit in with them for a bit more variation of poses.

I bought them to mix with GW Warhammer, which they match up with well. If you buy GW off Ebay, the prices can be pretty good and it gives you a wider range to mix with.

I have been wanting to do this with what I have collected from the 5th edition Bretts, and 4th edition Empire for a while. It really makes me feel at ease that they will match up with these guys well.

Their Horses for these ranges are still the best on the market.

Great figures, I'm using them currrently to create Ice and Fire armies, HYW for the North and WOTR for the South – a bit of both for the Riverlands.

Does any one in the US carry them?

How do they (FR) compare with Perry in size?

YogiBearMinis Supporting Member of TMP10 Jan 2013 11:55 a.m. PST

Front Rank are bigger than Perry, which are about the same as Old Glory and GW's LOTR plastic and some metals. Some of the metal LOTR figures are much bigger, and the very earliest plastic sets are even a little smaller than Perry/OG. The Front Rank don't have the "superhero physique" problem that the latest Warhammer figures have (pre-2005 or so Warhammer figures are fine), so you could probably mix FR and Perry/OG in same army but not so sure about same base.
