Here's and interesting battle report, with photos, that I ran across on the FFG X-Wing site: link It includes ORBATs, special rules for trench runs, etc., so is definitely worth checking out. I especially like the rules for the pilots to "Stay on Target", in order to get attack dice vs. the Death Star. The lines in the trench are a great idea for helping track that. |

Yep, looks really great! Trying to come up with some additional rules for added cinematic flavor to the basic X-Wing rules, and/or those I've seen others use, e.g. die-rolling to enter the trench successfully, possibility of collisions with the trench walls and/or other fighters if hit by enemy fire, no evasion permitted if in the trench and alongside another fighter, single fighters can evade in the trench, appearance of the Millenium Falcon (or not), etc. Any other ideas to the above, to make life interesting for the players, and/or to keep replay sorties fun? |

A great looking game! Any idea where they got the print outs for the Death Star surface? Seems like a very reason way to make a Death Star without breaking the bank. |

Wow!! Mako that looks awesome. I like the use of the plexi when flying over the trench. And the targetting lines marked on the trench. |

Oddball, I think they are using the paper terrain from Wargame Vault link Mark |

Here's another nice, detailed board, with cardboard turrets, and a superb looking exhaust port: link |

Here's a battle report of the playtest run, using the terrain board that was used at Millennium Con: link Lots of nice shots, and a good report narrative. Love the closeup shots in and over the trench. Gives a nice feel of the action from the movie. |

Just another reason why Star Wars is such a cool theme for a Sci-Fi game! Really well done! |

ha
that was our game.. We put it together with Brady here in Austin for Millennium Con. He did an impressive job not only with the board but also with the convention aides, he did the cards larger size for the players to avoid fiddling with the upgrade cards and other stuff.. The turn track also captured a few smiles :) We are always doing slight adjustments to the scenario as we playtest it and we hope to run it again next year at different opportunities. A key objective is to keep the rules elegant and consistent with the standard x-wing rules ( ie. not overly complicated ) and also to have the game behave as much as possible as the attack on episode IV. The convention game was the best so far, fought all the way to the end.. it could have gone either way.. The Imperials did a great job and I think that they had the edge but the rebels got very lucky on the only successful trench run that they managed to execute.. The rebels had a good overall plan but a few of their fighters got distracted and lost sight of the main objective ( Luke never got to hear Obi Wan whisper :) for example ). And it is nice to see a Y-wing deliver the goods :) Indeed the pdf is the one indicated before, Brady did the editing for the "stay on target" lines and similar adjustments. Another good reason to stop by Austin in November and visit Millennium
And you can stay a week longer and go to the F1 race
ok ok
I'm from Argentina, we like F1
:) PS: we would have loved to have the Falcon arriving, but I guess Jabba got the best out of Han and hence FFG delayed the Falcon till Feb :( cheers Francisco |
