Hi all, We're always on the lookout for low cost models from other ranges to use in our Warhammer 40k armies, and we recently stumbled across a Sci-Fi APC from Scotia Grendel. Its priced at £9.00 GBP ($14.30) and is just a little smaller than a Space Marine Rhino.
We've taken loads of pictures including sze comparisons with 40k models which you can see here: gravengames.co.uk/scotia-grendel-sci-fi-apc-review What do you think? Can you see a use for it in your army? We might turn this one into a vehicle for an Ork army, but it has the potential to be lots of different things – how would you use it? |

I've got about 10 of the VOID 1.1 versions of these (no side-molded sponson.) They were called the TAV, and came in three options by changing the turret; the support model shown, a missile launcher turret, and turret replaced with just a hatch insert for an APC version. The one you have there would equate to a "Razorback." The TAV's were phased out of the gamne system early on along with the Tiger and Korvus walkers (designers decided to go in a different direction with the game.) As mentioned, I still have mine, and have used them in VOID games despite their being phased out. The old rules had them as VASA faction transports/support vehicles. The newewr versions of the VOID game have the Ronin as a transport instead. We did up house rules where the Ronin transports Suppressors (Suppressors are riot-control specialists, and the Ronin has special rules similar to the Suppressors in that regard), and the TAV is strictly for VASA Marine transport. |

Just a little note. You say "
you can easily equip it with your weapon of choice" in your blog. scotiagrendel.com do a number of suitable weapons in their "small accessories" section. x42 |

So it's around the size as a Mk1 Rhino. For some reason I thought it was smaller than that. It could be used as a non-Rhino Rhino variant in other forces. Like as a Sisters of Battle Immolator, or an Arbites Repressor, or even a transport for a Squats proxie army. -Chris K. |

I'm not a 40k player but I could see a use for them in FAD or SGII games. I'd probably take that wolf head off as you mentioned on your site. |

Hmm, I've got a bunch or RT era marines and I'd like to get some tanks for them. This might be a good option rather than paying the ridiculous prices that some folks are asking for MK1 rhinos in not-terrible condition. |

I bought one of these many years ago (when VOID was still being played and was a "new" game) – a second or so at work with the linisher and the wolf/eagle/space bat head was history. I've still got it somewhere. Alongside a bunch of other Scotia/Grendel/Fantasy Forge pieces. |

Thought you folks might like to know that the Void version of this kit are still being sold (for a bit more $) by scotia Grendel.
linkThe Grendel version is a real bargain. I'm not sure it's worth the upcharge (from 9 GBP to 15 GBP) for a second weapon and the lack of side sponsons, but it's good to know it's out there. Compared to the Grendel generic version
linkI'm tempted to see if they'd sell me the Vasa body and just the top hatch (no weapons turrets)for the cost of the grendel version. Might be enough to entice me to swallow the rediculous UK-US shipping costs. |
