Ah, I love Pig Iron's stuff. My only complaint is that I already have models painted up to fill this niche -- near future sci-fi troopers -- so I'll have to really work hard to convince myself I need to buy these figures. :) |
Dentatus | 13 Nov 2012 3:35 p.m. PST |
Now that's how you do it. I'm all over these. Thanks, Pig Iron. |

One can never have too many of these. Nice looking figs! |

Very nice models. Would love a shoulder-fired AT weapon for my Kolony Militia

Nice ! Now we need some crew served weapons and son Opfor for these guys |

Any idea what comes with a sprue/set? Thanks, John |
PIG IRON STUDIO | 14 Nov 2012 2:41 a.m. PST |
Hi Guys, Great comments there – if you go to our blog you can see each sprue in detail. We are currently working on some opponents for these guys – irregular/insurgent type sprues plus more head options. We will also be adding to these troops with specific weapons, HQ and casualties. pigironblog.blogspot.co.uk |

fantastic, someone made some near future troops that look possibly British/European – about time and a refreshing change – loving these. |

I too *love love love* the pig iron stuff I have this far. Especially for conversions. |
John Leahy | 14 Nov 2012 11:51 a.m. PST |
So a sprue is 5 figs? Should I assume that heads will not be available as a separate set too? Buying a bunch would be great. Thanks, John |
Richard Gaulding | 14 Nov 2012 12:50 p.m. PST |
Nice! I'm really liking the multi-part figures; they have the dynamic look of single-piece figures with that little extra customizabilit that let's you really make a force your own. Any chance we'll ever see the Kolony Militia done up the same? |
CzarBLood | 14 Nov 2012 1:03 p.m. PST |
Dammm you
..more money I dont have for Ariadnan forces.. |
PIG IRON STUDIO | 14 Nov 2012 1:15 p.m. PST |
All the sprues are available separately including the heads. I think maybe we should do a squad bundle to make 10 figs. Slightly cheaper than buying all the sprues separately. What do you think? Si |

John Leahy | 16 Nov 2012 12:46 a.m. PST |
A Squad bundle too makes sense. I'm still not sure about if a sprue of 5 torsos is 4.5 pounds or if you get something else with your money like torsos, heads and legs for the same price. Thanks, John |
CzarBLood | 17 Nov 2012 9:48 p.m. PST |
yes good point , is the 4.5 pounds for a whole set of figures or just the constiuent parts that make a whole? |
Lovejoy | 18 Nov 2012 7:47 a.m. PST |
They are £4.50 GBP a sprue – you buy a leg sprue with 5 sets of legs, £4.50 GBP, then a torso sprue with 5 torsoes, £4.50 GBP, the a head sprue with 20 heads, £4.50 GBP. So for 20 figures you need 1 head sprue, 4 leg sprues and 4 torso sprues, £40.50 GBP plus P+P. That's just over 2 quid a figure, which sounds good to me! |
John Leahy | 18 Nov 2012 1:55 p.m. PST |
Are you sure that's correct? 20 28mm figures for almost 65 dollars in the USA? These are metal? That's over 3 dollars a figure if you are right. I can't believe that folks would be excited at that price point. Copplestone and Foundry scifi are both cheaper per figure (Copplestone by almost 50 cents a figure). if you are correct. Thanks, John |
CzarBLood | 18 Nov 2012 9:38 p.m. PST |
Considering Copplestone are £8.50 GBP for five models , working out at £1.70 GBP vs £2.00 GBP for a Pig Iron , 30 pence isnt much..when compared to Hasslefrees £3.00 GBP+ for figures (which I think are superb btw and Im not condemming them) I think there fair priced , especially for UK prices. Thanks for the clarification , saving my xmas pennies now.. |
John Leahy | 18 Nov 2012 11:55 p.m. PST |
Except that the Pig Iron are 2.7 pounds each according to this 5 figure set. That's a pound difference in price. Pretty substantial when compared to some of the other options available. If this pricing is correct I'm stunned. That's not to far from GW retail prices. YMMV. Thanks, John |
Uesugi Kenshin | 19 Nov 2012 3:39 p.m. PST |
A 10 pack for the infantry would be the way to go. |
CzarBLood | 19 Nov 2012 4:29 p.m. PST |
"Except that the Pig Iron are 2.7 pounds each according to this 5 figure set" where did you get £2.70 GBP from ? if you bought 1 torso (4.5), 1 leg sprue (4.5), 1 head sprue (4.5) = £13.50 GBP /5 =2.7 I agree but then you do get 15 heads extra which will not cost you for later purchases so that takes pricing down to 2 quid a model. |
John Leahy | 19 Nov 2012 10:14 p.m. PST |
I am not certain that you get 15 heads in a set. Based on what you get for the price I doubt it. My issue is that it would be nice to pick up 50-60 of them. The price they sell for makes that impossible. Thanks, John |
CzarBLood | 20 Nov 2012 3:50 a.m. PST |
quoted from Lovejoy above 'the a head sprue with 20 heads, £4.50 GBP' you get 20 heads for £4.50 GBP. |
Lovejoy | 20 Nov 2012 4:18 a.m. PST |
CzarBlood's right, you do get 20 heads for £4.50 GBP. See here: link So your 50 – 60 figures will cost £100.00 GBP to £120.00 GBP or so. Or about the same as I spent taking the family to the cinema and for a burger last Saturday. I'd much rather have an army I'll use for years than the 4 hours of dubious entertainment I received on Saturday! |
John Leahy | 20 Nov 2012 8:17 a.m. PST |
Ok, 20 per sprue. I'll likely get some of those. However, in the USA they still run $3.20 USD a fig. That's still towards the top of the price structure for grunts. However, it's a hobby so we all make are decisions and pay our money for what we want. They are nice figs. Just too pricey for me. Thanks, John |
Uesugi Kenshin | 20 Nov 2012 12:17 p.m. PST |
$3.20 USD is better than the 4-5 that Hasslefree and Foundry run! |
John Leahy | 20 Nov 2012 2:44 p.m. PST |
Hey, actually, the Foundry Street Violence range runs $3.09 USD per figure. So, if I buy 3 packs of Foundry that price drops to $2.79 USD per fig. That's 41 cents per fig cheaper. I'm not slamming Pig Iron's quality. They are quite nice. My point was for me 40-70 cents a fig difference for comparable quality doesn't mean a lot when buying 10-15 figs. It does start to add up when you are talking about 20-100. 40-70 dollars more for 100 figs of similar quality is not chump change at least for me. Thanks, John |

Fyi, these are up on the PI website for sale. Looks like about $30 USD if you buy the 10 figure squad. I may hold off until the SAW is available. Cant wait to see the insurgents. |

Hnnggh i need two more jobs so i can spend the whole paycheck on all this hot lead. pig iron makes some of my favorite scifi minis, and it causes me physical pain to not have them in my grubby little fingers. |

"We are currently working on some opponents for these guys – irregular/insurgent type sprues plus more head options. We will also be adding to these troops with specific weapons, HQ and casualties." What i would love to see are "bad guy" mercenary/pirate heads, in bandanas, soft bush hats etc |
