There is a write up on our game at link

It seemed appropriate to do this game as tomorrow is Remembrance day / Veterans day.
As a rule I feel wargamers have a reverence for the real combatants in the conflicts they depict.
I am glad our casualties get up at the end of each battle.
I really wish real life casualties did too!

Yeah, I enjoyed it too. Just a thought. The figs are nicely done. However, the base looks too big for only two infantry figs.

Thanks,

John

Yeah, the bases look rather empty with just two figures. But on the other hand you can form a lot more units with fewer figures per base. There's a trade off to be made.

Yes, I think the bases are meant for more figs (probably 4), but I think the lads who owned the figures were keen to get their figures on table fast..and keep costs low!

Believe me, I get that. I just think cutting down the size of the bases would make for a better visual. i also use two figs on a stand for WWI. I game in 1/72 20mm. However, mine are on smaller bases and the empty space is not an issue. It is nice to see folks gaming WWI though. grin

Thanks,

John

Cutting down the base size was not IMHO an option as this is the standard base size for the Great War Spearhead rules. The reason for only two miniatures was down to room on the base for 10mm miniatures, any more than 2 started to look like close order battalions more akin to the previous century. As it is I like to think that they look like the extended skirmish lines of the period.

Robin, thank you for The Great Adventure site. This has been a major stimulus for me to get this project going.

The Battle was Bertrix from the GW spearhead yahoo group.

What historically happened.

Great write up. Thank you very much. I especially like the use of hidden movement. It makes a significant difference in a game like this. There is a glimpse of the impact in the write-up and photographs. Nothing quite like that gnawing uncertainty when you are in amongst it though ;-)

I have put a link to the AAR on the GWSH Yahoo Group.
