I saw an advert in Miniature Wargames no. 355 for a new store in Gants Hill (on the Central line), and popped along today.
It's nice and close to my end of the central line, so no need for long journeys into town, and a real shop is great for browsing.
It's called Miniature Empire, and had a good chat with the owner Carlos. Display case of models painted by himself (some Golden Demon award winners in there).
Currently lots of GW, Reaper, Infinity, FoW, although he's hoping to get a stock of historicals (Perry, Victrix, Plastic Soldier) in soon. Various makes of paints and supplies. GW items are discounted by 20%.
He seemed really enthusiastic about having the store, and is hoping to start gaming nights in the new year.
Very polite, didn't mind talking to my enthusiastic 6 year old.
If anyone's in the area then I'd recommend a visit. Would be nice to see it succeed in the current climate.

Does anyone know if he'll be open on a Sunday? Most game shops tend to be…

Bran Flayk10 Nov 2012 3:21 p.m. PST

I think he said he shuts Sunday and Monday, to hopefully save anyone a wasted trip
